With the renewed discussion on bed stiffeners, this makes me wonder how much the bed flexes, and if that flexing would ever be an issue with a hard tonneau cover (i.e., would it flex enough to bend a panel or break a latch)? Or am I just paranoid. I do go off road but nothing extreme. My truck has sliders, front skid (on the way), but no lift if that gives an idea of what I'm willing to tackle.

You could put a load of mulch, wood, cement, firewood, etc., in there one day and that could bend your bed walls. Then, the alignment on your tailgate to your bedwalls could get offset. Then you would be wishing you had only installed the bed stiffeners. I bought mine yesterday, delivery next week. :hattip:

How easy is it to get retuned though when you add another bumper or winch etc

I don't have any weight above my truck bed and it's empty most days, but I put the TC stiffeners for additional tie down points and increased structural rigidity when flexing the suspension. Chose them because they fit perfect and cover the most surface area. Very easy install. To my surprise the rear of the truck seemed to ride noticeably smoother after adding them; can't really explain how or why - wasn't expecting it.

$1400 for a new composite bed from Toyota when yours bends or cracks + whatever body work costs to get everything installed and realigned or $150-$200 for stiffeners that have multiple benefits and install in a half hour, take your pick. :)

You just send them back and tell them what changed. I've had my ADS retuned twice, nbd. They covered the first one, I paid for the second. I believe Accutune is the same.

First, drove home from WA to AZ on leave to drop some things off at my parent's place as I expect to have to move, possibly overseas this fall.

Then I put on my Apogee Offroad Bumper that has been sitting in their back yard for about a year and a half now. It's been too long since I have come home, the stock bumper was ripped off wheeling in Montana. So I now have BSM and Rear Park Assist again for the first time in over two years.

Mounted a new to me, SSO bumper with stage 2. Anyone know of a deal on baja lights? Also looking for recommendations on how to make an oem switch.

I put my drivers side front wheel on a 2 foot incline as I back into my drive causing enough flex to show wear on the paint between the bed sides and the bed side covers, that was with no weight in the back. I'm not sure if bed stiffeners would have prevented that but it's a data point.

Luna was sitting in front of the house, doing nobody any harm. The young lady across the street made a left in front of a young man driving down the street, and they came to rest against Luna. Looks like I need a new bumper, license frame, and license plate.
Anything I should look at as a replacement for the stock sport front end?

This is a perfect example of another benefit to what the bed stiffeners prevent. You are flexing the body back there and the tell-tale sign is the paint wear in that area.

The rear of these trucks really are very flimsy.

FWIW - I did by fuse at first and didn't like that they were only on with headlights - at least the fuse I picked. So, I went with a T-harness from @daveeasa that taps into the factory DRL/Parking lights so that the grill lights are on all the time, which is my personal preference.

Dave makes an awesome product, nothing but great things to say about them.

If you take your Tacoma overseas, you may have some issues with warranty, parts, service. Others have experience in this, but I have read about issues due to EU standards VS US standards.

Can’t remember exactly what YouTuber, but he had flexing already to where his holes weren’t lining up to install his bed stiffeners

Did you install them yourself? I figured most people have their suspension professionally installed for liability reasons so I wasn’t sure how you go about sending them in

Yes I do everything myself (other than alignments and tint, mostly). I don't trust other people to work on my car. I don't even want to take it to the dealer to have the bubbled Qi charger replaced. If you're not doing your own installs it would for sure get a bit more complicated and expensive.
