This is why buying houses sucks these days.. It's always "someone else's problem" to deal with

At the least, just replace those sharkbite fittings, that kink in it probably damaged the internals which are stainless steel. So even after the pipe is straight, it'll probably still leak

It almost looks like they cut out more pipe than the shark bite can cover

this and I’m guessing that the valve with the blue handle was replaced at some point which was wider than the previous, causing the misalignment in the vertical run…

I’m not about to just “fuck it up for the next guy”, but I’m also not going to go out of my way and spend a bunch of time and money to fix it right as if it were my own place.

There is “fix it enough”, which is my plan, versus “fuck it up for the next guy to find out”, which is what would happen if I weren’t here. So everybody still wins.

I hope my post after fixing it isn’t something like “you’ll never believe how many segments of PEX and 3” copper sections I was able to combine with sharkbite couplers to fix this!!”

I'm just speaking from experience. For 2 years of college every summer/fall I was the dumbass technician that tried to use shark bites to patch copper lines. I usually had to go back and solder a piece in later on down the road. I think you're selling yourself short a bit - I bet you could do a 5 min study on YouTube University and have it fixed with little effort.

If you're renting why don't you tell the landlord? I would imagine it should be their responsibility instead of making you fix/pay for it

Long story… if I submit bills, rent goes up as there is no discretionary fund built into the owners financial plan for this place.

I have already inherited enough projects with this place of the previous owner doing poor fixes, so I’m picking my battles.

And yes, I can probably buy the torch, soldering equipment and supplies and have it done, but then I have another bin of tools/flammable I may not use again for a long time. Trying to reduce my possessions, not increase them.

If that’s the case, I’d honestly file this one in the “fuck it” folder.

It's a very integral part of the thread. :luvya:
    Now that's a productive post.
Thread still sucks. Two days of whining about a 30 minute pipe job that could have been done yesterday when it was nice out. Take pride in your work, fix it right. Be a man.
