Ive taken a over week of vacation for the first time in like 5 years. Still have 4 or 5 days left of it and thinking about taking up fishing again for "free" food. Havent fished since i was like a kid so im pretty much gonna have to rebuy everything.

What are some good spots to fish nearish to me? And what kind of fish can I expect at said spots. Pretty much have only fished for trout before so i think something else could be fun. I can do more research on my own about what bait/lures i need from there. Would prefer not as crowded areas so i can bring my dog without having to baby sit him as much.

The McKenzie and Middle Fork are mostly private land, which is one of the reasons the drift boat was created here. It is springer season so you will find crowds in the early mornings on the McKenzie (the bite turns off after about 8) and crowds all day long at the public Middle Fork spots (warmer water; bite stays on longer). For trout your best bet is the McKenzie above Hendrick's. They do not stock trout below Hendrick's, and around here we do not kill native trout regardless of what the regs say. Don't be that guy.

Try some of these spots if you don't have a boat:

Or hire a guide; call Home Waters or the Caddis Fly.
