What is everyone’s opinion on the Amazon headlight housings. If I hear good things then I plan to get them with a set of Lasfit LED bulbs.

Stick with oem housings and halogen bulbs for best performance. See the ultimate h4 headlight thread on here for everything you need to know.

Most people don’t like them. Saying to stick to oem.

I say they are fine. They are maybe 10% worse than oem.

the thing is that they can leak when it’s wet outside. So just put a bead of silicone around the housing where it meets the lens.

I ran depo light with sealight led bulbs for 3 years. It was fine. Nobody complained out of my friend group, and they performed great. Didn’t get moisture inside either.

They are not that expensive. So if they fail, no big deal.

Oem optics will be best. Led "bulbs" dont belong in a halogen assembly. Read the thread i mentioned to understand why.

Welcome to the forum. I hope we are not too late to help you. Absolutely do not buy anything you posted, it is all absolute garbage. Amazon headlights look similar to stock but are a massive downgrade in terms of performance and longevity. They are basically a disposable garbage product, great for the look if you don't need to use it for actual lighting. And Lasfit, ooff so hard. A pathetic lighting company, definitely not recommended. Those products don't replicate halogens in the slightest and are just crap quality Chinese bulbs rebranded for US sales to dumb consumers that don't know better. Complete joke, hard avoid.

Instead look at the worlds leading automotive lighting manufactures, like Toyota USA and Osram Germany delivering the highest quality lighting products on the planet. Absolutely nobody talks about Chinese knock off headlights or Chinese crap quality LED bulbs as an upgrade, because they are not. They are a laughing stock of the lighting community. Buy real lighting products, from real lighting manufactures making the best products in the world, supported by the best automotive manufactures.

Just because a headlight housing looks like OEM doesn't mean it will perform like OEM. And in the case of just about everything on Amazon an eBay, they don't even come close. If all you're looking for is a fancy looking light, go for it. If you actually want something to out usable light on the road in front of you and last, OEM is absolutely the only way to fly. Think about it. What well designed and manufactured product requires further modification (adding silicone sealer) to prevent it from turning into an aquarium?

As for the LED bulbs, about the only way you could further downgrade the performance of those Amazon housings would be to install LED bulbs.

I'm going to add a few more comments here on cheap Amazon and Ebay headlight housings and why I feel so strongly about how bad they really are. First of all, most folks replace badly oxidized (and therefore poor performing) OEM housings with something new. Because of this, no matter how poor the quality of the aftermarket housing, it's probably going to be an upgrade over the oxidized / wiped out original. I get that. The problem is, when you compare the actual performance of a brand-new OEM housing to a brand-new aftermarket one things get interesting - but nobody's done it. Except maybe me.

A few years ago, my son needed to replace the oxidized OEM headlight housings on his Mercury Marquis. I could get him OEM Ford housings for 10% over cost, but aftermarket housings were significantly cheaper, so he went with them. These even happened to be CAPA Certified housings which are supposedly better than the real cheap stuff. We installed them with brand new bulbs and guess what? They sucked. Oh yea, they looked way better than what we pulled out, but the actual light output sucked.

So, I got a set of new OEM housings and we installed one of them on the driver side and left the CAPA Certified housing on the other side. We pulled the car up to a nice flat wall and turned the headlights on. The pattern from the OEM headlight was very well defined. The CAPA Certified one - even though it looked (externally) identical - could only be described as bizarre. (I wish I'd taken pictures.) We then pulled the CAPA junk out and returned it. Lesson learned.

So, are aftermarket - even CAPA Certified - housings better than OEM? Not in my experience. For those of you that are happy with them though, go for it.

Here's another gripe I have about aftermarket parts - headlight housings in particular. Most folks - even in areas with tons of harsh sunlight exposure - seem to get 5-7 years of service out of their OEM headlight housings. And they do this with no need to add silicone sealer to prevent water intrusion. Aftermarket housings? People seem to be thrilled to get 3-4 years of service after adding sealer and hoping it works. Would I want to get only half the life with poor light output and need to add sealer to prevent water intrusion on a very important safety item? Nope. Not in a million years.

Just my 2 cents based on real world experience from a discerning lighting enthusiast.

Thank you for the response. I definitely will not be buying these.

Ill add to this as well. Ive worked in a bodyshop for 12+years. So im always replacing headlights which then i aim on a wall. It always blows my mind how most aftermarket headlight hot spots look like fist full of mud throw against the wall compared to oem which always looks tighter and more uniform. High beams will alot of times be off as well. Hot spots wont be on top of the low beam or off to the side. It can be a mess. Capa lights are generally better, but even they arent up to OEM standards.
