I've always had my pride about not following the flock. I don't have traction boards, a 270 degree awning, or any on that Instagram stuff. Anyway, I had to finally break down and join the sheep on one item.

Bed space is at a premium when you're going out with gear for two people for a week. I have a trip planned that includes at least 190 to 220 miles offroad with no services of any kind.

As I only get 240ish miles to a tank in town, I broke down and bought a 3 gallon Rotopax to attach to the bottom of my RTT so I don't have to use any bed space for gas.

I feel weird spending close to $200 for 3 gallons, but I guess the convenience on having 45 to 50 miles of fuel stashed out of the way is worth it?? Does this also mean I'm on the road of no recovery, and am destined for quick-fisted shovels and high lift jacks? :anonymous:

Plus the Rotopax holder, and the mounting piece that attaches to the rail on the bottom of the tent. I exaggerated a little when I said close to $200, it's really closer to $175. ;)

More mods than it should have...
I know they're a little pricey for what they are but they are great IMO. I've had mine (one for gas and one for water) for over a year and used them on multiple trips over that time with no damages, leaks, or any color fading from being in the sun. I think I got my moneys worth for the convenience of space and mounting availability.

Rotopax seem to be quality units. I don't see the use in them however, but I do love my 270 awning and traction boards.

I like the price on these. Now how do you mount this without a $1800 bumper, outside of the bed?

I have the 5 gallon fuel as well from harbor freight.

the way that green 5 gallon water is secured…….the fuel is usually secured on the other side as well…..not sure why I didn’t have my container on this trip.

Did a 7 day run with it and I'm good to go. Hopefully, I'll be able to use it more often going forward.
