Decided to throw the BTTF part 1 plate on the front and drive around for a few days. So far so good

Back to the future reference? I dunno. I'm not sure I get the point either.

He lives in Oregon driving around with a Cali. front plate? That's my guess.

Rolling around with a fake plate seems like an absolutely terrible idea. But to each their own!

The fine depends on what year it is when they catch you, In 1955 the fine was like two nickels and a dime!

If he really has that sort of mindset, his parents should take away his truck from him

    His phone too

    I think he meant “cops”

He’s in Oregon. They probably won’t bother him.

If front plates aren't required, you can put anything up there you want. I've traveled and collected old plates from every state I've been in. I've had plates from all over on the front of my vehicles. The 1996 Olymics were in GA and we got new plates to commemorate that. I still have them and they are mounted on the front of our Explorer right now.

Key word is if front plates are not required. OP is in a state that requires them.

"probably". Nobody gets hassled until they do.

I'm willing to bet that the number of Ops that don't make the connection to a 1985 movie, or why a blue 2nd gen Tacoma wants to associate with it, is high. All they will see is a set of mismatched plates and an uncovered off-road light, and thats two good excuses to pull the vehicle and ask questions. Even if it doesnt uncover further suspicious behavior, thats a ticket plus a warning about the light, to make you feel like they let you off easy today.

You are absolutely correct. But Oregon LEO’s have much bigger fish to fry than a mismatched plate.

Would I run a plate like this? No. But Oregon is a fairly “safe” place to do it (not that there are zero consequences).

When I was younger and lived in mass that didn’t require a front plate, I hade a fake California plate on the front. Got pulled over and they asked to see me registration for it. Told him it wasn’t real and was plastic. He said I have two options, remove it right now or pay a fine for attaching false plates on a vehicle. I was only 19 and didn’t want any trouble so I took it off.
