2024 specs released... I'm impressed!!

465 lb torque. 33” stock. Adjustable fox shocks. Nice interior. Cool styling. Can’t find anything I don’t love.

 

Well, that is actually a potential liability. Don't misunderstand, a turbo can be a huge benefit. However, on tiny little engines, like 4 cylinder gas engines, the turbo is so small, they are very fragile. I had a 2014 VW Passat TDI, 4 cylinder, turbo. The first turbo grenaded at only 7,000 miles. Replaced at the dealership. Second turbo granaded at ~75K miles. Absolutely no mods of any kind done to the car. Small turbos are very delicate, and I have zero faith in them.

So if the V6 is no longer available as of 2024, I guess my 2017 will be my last ever Tacoma. Bummer.

This is way impressive. I sold my 2022 pro last month and glad I did. It was one thing for the tundra which basically kept the same hp and torque but this is a major improvement and while I liked my manual this 8 speed with 465lb and 320 must be amazing change. The interior is much improved and the stance with the wider track is awesome. Interesting to see the mpg comparison and compare seating positions. I’ll be getting a pro or trailhunter not sure which. Makes me wonder now if my 22 4Runner pro should be sold sooner than later which I never thought I’d do.

 

Is that *gasp* a usable rear seat on the DC?

 

I wish I didn't watch this video. It's very enticing, and I really like the boxier front end look that they gave it (not a fan of the rear bumper though)

 

I will be interested in how the 4 cylinder turbo engine holds up, personally not a big fan of turbos, I am surprised they didn't offer a V6(maybe turbo) for the trailhawk or pro.

Right. You can’t have it all. We all complain about torque and this and that. Price will be high for higher trims of course. I’m not even close to convinced reliability will be poor especially after a few years as they dial it in. Most trucks are turbo now. Good on Toyota for putting their balls out and competing in a serious way.

 

I was a huge skeptic of the 4 turbo but now that I see the changes I think that overrides the worry about something that may never be an issue. When interest rates got to where they are now it basically made my 50k pro 60k if I wanted to resell it and someone had to finance it. Not sure to many would see the value in the current Tacoma at that price point. It’s not worth that to me anyway given the competition now and the current tacomas drawbacks. This new version though changes that. Can’t wait to see the markups on the pros and trail hunters we may be looking at 90k pricing lol.

I've been very happy with my 2.5 gen. I'm still planning to have it for many years to come. I was hoping the 2024 models would really suck, that way I'd be totally content...
Now I'm trying to figure out if there will be any possibility of being able to afford to trade up.
I doubt that will be possible though. Damn!

 

Excited for the new Tacoma as well. But the price will determine if we can get one. If the trail hunter is over 50…no luck from us

Lol. Then I’ll be rocking my 2nd gen for a while longer. If it is $70….that’s 3x more expensive than my current truck. and it’s not 3x the truck

 

Well, to be fair, inflation has been dramatic. $70K is the same or only modestly more than $50K in 2019.

 

I would keep the 4runner, it has the better power train combo. Now the tacoma 3rd gen drivetrain is not the most desirable, especially the transmission.

 

Probably the price... I so want a TRD Pro but no way I can pay like $60k for a truck... just not happening.

 

As a hard core manual guy this new setup and probably my older age make me lean to this auto hybrid setup.
