You should keep it. Nobody will notice the state of your tailgate with it installed.

Meets my idea of simple and sturdy!!

Not quite what I would have built it does fit the quoted description.

This is why I don`t build things without least a sketch on the work order signed by the end user.

    complete prints are even better.

Saw this on Reddit lol he said he paid $450 for it. Whatever you end up doing OP, don't let the haters get to you. My opinion though is that this is NOT a bumper... so, job incomplete. Maybe you can work something out with the guy.

Please explain why you feel this is not a bumper ?

As it would pass inspection here in Pa as a rear bumper.

    4 run, 2 don't
A used trail gear bumper goes for that much; I'd expect much more than that for a nicely fabbed bumper on the used market

But used is definitely much cheaper if someone doesn't know how to fab!

To me, it as simple as that it does not look like a bumper, or primarily anything like OP said they wanted, but like a piece of i-beam(j-beam?) they had lying around. Even diy offroad bumpers are usually boxed steel or at least a c-channel which I believe would be much stronger in the event of a collision at a perpendicular angle.

Simple throw it out and either get a decent steel bumper or a oem one.

Wood Bumper! I should get my friend to go Burning Man on a wooden bumper for me. Could be epic! Thanks for the idea

    i can accept that answer.

But to me it is simple and sturdy .

The Op has not returned stating he had a work order with at least a sketch to backup has verbal instructions.
