I only said something because I work for a company that makes MOLLE panels, so I'm sensitive to it. Lol.

Is the instrument cluster digital now? Not a fan of that.

Am I seeing correctly that there is no V6 offered? That engine is the reason I love my 2nd gen!

I was so excited about the trailhunter as I was considering trading in my 2020 OR 6MT in on one l. I love my 2020 but it's just not tire friendly trying to add bigger tires without lots of work and all that. It's so sad that the 6mt is not available in that trim! At this point I think a gladiator will have to be my next purchase since for probably less money I'll get a simple v6, 6mt, and regular parking brake and 2 lockers, oh and 37s will fit with little to no modifications. I think the new Tacoma looks good and they have addressed many of the complaints but I think they fell short with one major competitor...

Just bought a Hyundai Tucson Hybrid with digital cluster, and my wife's X3 is all digital. All I have to say is that they have come along way, and after having them for a while I am sold. Both those vehicles allow all sorts of menu driven customizations I think are pretty cool. Different colors etc. On my hyundai you can even change what the gauges display, such as tach or EV mode.

Damn it's going to be a slugfest between the new Tacoma, the new Ranger, and the new Colorado!

Toyota did a fantastic job on the new Tacoma. I was worried, considering how hideous the new Tundra is.

Of all the new trucks out there, mid- and full-size, the new Tacoma is the only one that might take my money...

I am withholding any excitement for now. I was so thrilled when they changed some things on the 3rd gen. Made the mistake of buying one. Forever hated the engine and transmission. After 5.5 years and 25k miles I sold the Sport and bought 2 second gens. Love the 4.0. I attribute my 3.5 hatred to the fact I sold a perfectly excellent 2nd gen, with around 58k miles, after I bought the 3rd gen. I had so many 1st year new gen issues with the 2016 that I will never buy any 1st year of a new gen vehicle again. Being a PreRunner guy, or rwd driver, I am anxious to see these on the road particularly the new PreRunner. I am strictly a 6' bed access cab type that very rarely needs a rear seat. I agree with everyone that the 4th gen lower air dam would be the 1st thing to remove. Looks like a snow plow and a helluva lot worse than the one I immediately removed from my 3rd gen. I had a 4 banger turbo in my grocery getter Ford Escape that ran circles around the 3.5 slug Tacoma. I sold the Escape with 70k miles and never had a single turbo issue. I thought Ford made a mistake with a 2.3 turbo in the Ranger. After owning that Escape turbo for a few years maybe Ford had a "better" idea for Toyota to learn and build from. Time will tell. Overall I am pleased that Toyota read enough on TW to know how to build a better truck with options and features that may hurt some aftermarket companies. From the base truck to the Pro seem to be something for everyones' taste. For the last 3 years I swore I would be a 2nd gen lifer. I think I may have to eat those words one day. I am glad to feel some stokeness about the new Tacoma. Now we need to see how the prices are. I have a feeling they will skyrocket. I was browsing Tundras today that are in the $60-$75k range without a V8 engine. Tacoma won't be too far behind them.

Still driving my 1st Gen TRDOR Taco (and a 21' TRDOR 4R) and I'm happy for the fundamental chassis changes. 4 link rear suspension, disk brakes were the right call. Aesthetics is just that, subjective and not important. All the unwanted eco shit (see air dam) will be cut off, unbolted, peeled, removed, and replaced. The drive train was needing to be addressed. I don't really care how many holes are in the block, as long as the drivability is there, ie HP/TQ. Can it cruise over 70 w/o the trans kicking down in flat ass north/west Texas in a strong headwind. FWIW my 04 Taco cannot and the 4R is an improvement, barely. BUT I still love em'.

My issues are with all the tech bullshit. Who uses that after they show all their friends? If you ever see me on a trail staring at screens while navigating obsticles, shoot me on sight w/ no warning, I deserve it. Where is the manual transfer case? At least in the TRD OR and PRO. I don't know what this Trail Tickler version is, but it has the pinnings of the Chevy Avelanche, oh lord tell me the thing in the bed isn't standard? Old skool gauges what's wrong with those? No camera bullshit, that's what windows are for. Have people gotten so lazy they can't operate a tailgate? I'll bet it will cost $1500 to fix if a fancy button or actuator goes bad and then there's tailgate theft. Breathe... thank god for the prop rod for the hood. Score a point.

I really will want to rip all that tech shit out so badly. I have NEVER seen a piece of dashboard tech age well, in 10 years it will all look like 8 bit Donkey Kong, and replacing it will be impossible and/or too expensive. At least a standard DIN/double DIN tape deck/CD player could be easily removed and replaced with something w/ more practical functionality for $300 or less and still give your vehicle a better chance of going beyond 10 years. Oh yeah...and get off my lawn.

I actually do like the truck, but jumping from a 1st Gen to a 4th Gen seems an impossible leap. Plus will it even fit in my garage? I think from the 1st to the 4th the truck seems to have gotten a foot wider, two feet longer and 4" taller? I'm trying to be funny but that may actually close..:D

Oh and I think the PRO will be pushing $60+. If the TRDOR stays in the low $40's that will be a win in todays market. Get ready to open your wallets. And if you have a credit score of less than 700 enjoy your $900+ car payment because you'll be socked w/ 10% interest or more. :(

    Yup. And it’s customizable.
Correct but the new power train makes a lot more power
