    Searched and didn’t find anything

anyone have this happen? What’s the fix?

    happened all of a sudden
    Went from normal operation
To significantly reduced range. Works fine held up to driver window, or inside cab

which tells me the fob is fine. New good quality battery in it.

last time I dealt with such a thing was on an old Audi that had the receiver board behind the headliner in back. The board cracks (black plastic) and cheap fix is “holding it together” again by putting a bunch of little binder clips around the perimeter

Are you sure about the battery? What does your other fob do?

A tip learned from Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear many years ago actually works. Hold the fob against your body -- one's forehead works perfectly -- when you click. Seriously. It increases my range something like 3X.

I would try a different battery first. I've gotten weak ones right out of the pack.

Yes I know that thing or hold it to your chin to amplify the signal off your bone.

still doing what stated in OP

negative. High quality dealer new battery. So is the second. Installed two.
Replaced worn fob. Verified button pads positioned correctly. Solder connections in the fob don’t look too bad. Checked them thinking it could be like the compass fix.

unfortunately truck didn’t come with 2nd fob.

The truck must have a receiver antenna somewhere in it that I highly suspect is starting to have issue. I’ll see if I can figure out where it is, how much a new one is, and see if any bandaid can be applied to the stock one to restore functionality than replace. As new is likely $300.
If binder clips do end up fixing it, much cheaper than $300.
