About a year ago my airbag sensor lit up and Toyota replaced the passenger side airbag at a cost of $1200. 6 weeks later the sensor lit up again and Toyota says it’s the middle air bag. My truck is an extended cab but I didn’t know it had a middle airbag. Is this true or are they pulling a swift one on me?
    Thanks.

Sensors are out front behind the bumper.

Brain is likely in cab, behind dash, in the middle.

Are you sure the bag was what was changed the last time? That seems very unusual to me.

What year is your truck? Your profile is bare and you didn't mention that.

That’s what I was told by the arrogant Toyota guy. I’ll dig up the receipt and see for sure what I was charged for. My truck is a 2002 Tacoma Extended cab V-6

It was the passenger side sensor that was replaced and not the airbag as I mistakenly said earlier. When I returned 6 weeks later I was told it was now the middle air bag sensor that was bad. Is it likely these 2 sensors would both go bad so close together? I’ve suspected the Toyota place may have damaged the 2nd sensor.

Without knowing what code(s) were set it's anyones guess but I do know Toyota refers to the airbag module as the Center Airbag Sensor Assembly so they could have been talking about that although it's pretty uncommon for that to fail unless it got wet.

There are only two sensors, one on each frame rail in the engine bay. There is no middle sensor, unless they’re referring to the control module under your dash. It takes about 10 minutes to replace one of the sensors, so unless the part costs about $1100 of that $1200, you got taken for a ride by that dealership.

I don't think dealerships are quick enough to pull a quick one. Maybe a dumb one.
