Question, how much have you towed with a 2.7 with a 2" receiver?

    How much?

Or how much safely? Meaning safe for you, the truck, others on the road.

There is a tow capacity in the owners manual. There is a vehicle gross weight capacity in the door jam, which includes the tongue weight of the trailer, passengers and bed load.

Have people done more and lived? Sure.

Have people done more and made a mess? Yep.

So for the most part you can't go wrong with those numbers, assuming your equipment is in good order, the driven terrain isn't excessive and the weather is friendly.

Nothing crazy, looking to buy an aluminum trailer for a Honda Rubicon and my zero turn. I know aluminum trailers are more but I think it will be a better investment.

There is towing then there is moving .

Not a 2.7 but the older 22re engine 5 speed.

Not the same thing as a few thousand miles towing a loaded out camper.

Using a Tow Dolly I have transported a few 4x4 pick ups a few hundred miles.

It was a very slow trip 400 miles in about 14 hours.

i was shown to be # 1 quite often coming off hills in first gear.

    No interstates were driven on.

That's what I was wondering. Bunch of us want to head to the Hatfield and McCoy trails in WV. Lots of pulling mountains.

Commonsense more then anything else .

WVA I would be super careful your going up or down more often then flat or so it seems.

Trailer brakes for sure I would be concerned more about hot brakes then anything else .

i have never driven a Auto Trans I have no idea I love my manual and the lower gears.

I do have a 7.3 with an exhaust brake F250 for serious towing.

I love my Tacoma, but more and more it seams I need to go back to a full size truck for various reasons.

I have this thing called a wife... seriously, I just don't have the room and with Virginia property taxes. The truck would wind up sitting more than being driven... and we all know that's worse.

Depending on your expectations you will either be miserable or say no problem. I had no problems with a 2,000# tent camper. You can drop a few gears on hills, but my camper had 12" tires with a 65 mph max so I got used to that speed.

Check out posts by @gearcruncher regarding towing and ATs in general.

Before I considered towing anything anywhere I added an external transmission cooler did an ATF flush with Valvoline MaxLife. I used the OBD Fusion app on an old iPhone to monitor transmission temps, kept OD off and top speed around 60 which really pissed people off on the 70mph Suncoast Parkway. I only towed a small UHaul full of living room furniture and Florida is mostly flat so YMMV
