Years ago I was talking to a neighbor about killing them. She told her tree hugger daughter, and she called the cops on me.

Law came out, I answered the door and before I could say a word he said " you know it's illegal to shoot a firearm in city limits." Then he told me why someone had called and asked me if I'd been shooting armadillos. Told him no sir!

He said have a good day and walked off. Then he turned around and said "don't get caught shooting those damn things."

 

Do you think that would be powerful enough to dispatch a raccoon at close range? How noisy is it compared to a 22 LR?

We get coons in our horse barn all the time, sometimes I catch them red handed in the feed room. Obviously if the horses are in the barn, I don't want to fire a gun, but I'd use a pellet gun.

I shot one last summer on the shelf in the feed room with my 22 cal AR-15. The horses were out that night, so the noise wasn't a problem, but what a bloody mess.

 

How loud are those suppressed air rifles compared to a 22 short fired out of a 22LR rifle barrel?

 

I used a 3.5” 2oz #4 flightcontrol 12 gauge turkey load vs a pest problem before. That was quite the mess and divot.

Where I live, the county didnt regulate shooting, just noise. Now we have this fun bullshit to pre empt local control and I need to suddenly care what the state thinks....

Screw the airgun. If someone complains and the cops come, just tell them it was an AD. Statute has a out clause for ADs.

It's a lot more convenient when they run out of the barn and I can pop them outside. I dropped a bakers dozen last summer. They take man sized shits in our barn, and rip open very expensive bags of feed.

Ruger. Very happy with it. However, I do plan to get the Magpul stock for it.

No, but I wear disposable gloves when I pick them up and throw them in the woods for the buzzards

 

I watched a ton of YT videos on people hunting with the same rifle I bought. No worries killing a coon or armadillo as long as you shoot it in the right spot. I always go for a body shot on armadillos. Kinda cruel, but it gives them enough time to usually make it back to the woods to die.

When I got it, I was sighting in the scope shooting into a 2x6. Only thing I heard was the pellet hitting the 2x6. It pirnitrated it 5/8".

My dedicated armadillo gun is way louder shooting CCI subs.

 

How many fookin armadillos do you have around you?
