Rear Diff Light indicator turned on random while driving highway

Hello!

Names Wylie, owner of a 2000 SR5 3.4 with the factory rear diff locker. Any way while driving home the other day noticed the light turned on while driving and then shortly after started to smell burning plastic and see smoke coming from below steering wheel down around all the wring harnesses. Any body experience this before? Before this I've been blowing 20 AMP 4x4 fuses in the cab fuse box.... thank you all so much!

 

Sounds electrical in nature. Rodent damage anywhere?

 

How did you stop the 20a fuses from blowing?

 

a short someplace damaged harness or hardware break out the meter.

 

Havent yet.. need to dive in further

 

found one little wire out of a harness to the left of the clutch pedal... but need to look into what harness it is.

 

I'll bet it had power on it and touched something down there, check for burn marks too. Careful with live wires.

 

My 2001 gulf states toyota security main module smoked the other day for no reason. Had to disconnect it. It was in that general area. Don't believe that would affect Rdiff.
