Not even downhill driving....seems like 55-65mph is in the money for the v6.
This was on the way back from a trip. Way out I was averaging about 24mpg....26+ for the whole trip.

Seems like the further from 60 you get at either end, the least efficient it gets.

That's awesome! I'm lucky to hit 20MPG in my OR DCSB 6MT. It might be the 265/75R16 Wildpeaks though. Once I wear these out I might switch to Michelin LTXs to see how those do on the highway.

45 miles is too short to tell anything.

    Average several tanks. By hand.

But yes, slower (within reason) is better, along with steady state cruising.

The terrain/location definitely makes a difference. When I was in AZ I couldn’t get more than 14mpgs no matter how slow or fast I drove. Just took a 100 mile trip in NC and average about 21 which I never seen before. Those little hills in AZ just ate up my mpgs

more so was referencing the full trip of 100+ miles of 26+ mpg as the impressive stat....Regardless, anytime a full tank can get me 340+ miles I am thoroughly impressed and extremely happy.

I've hit mid 20's+ on several occasions, usually when doing 70-75 mph for nice steady stretches.

Have the op give the real mpg after doing the actual math starting with a full tank.

I do the Berkeley - Roseville round trip fairly often, ~90 miles each way and pretty flat overall.
'23 access cab/sr/2wd/V6/no shell, average speed probably 70 mph.
I've been averaging 23.5-25 round trip depending on times of day (headwinds and tailwinds reverse once the ocean warms up for the day) with the worst trip being 22 mpg and the best came in at a whopping 27.4 mpg. I had tailwinds in both directions that day.
Yeah, I got a short leg (and slow acceleration rates) when it comes to long drives and getting paid by the hour. Decent vehicle reimbursement too.

Not crazy, if I keep the cruise control at 65 I can pretty reliably hit the 26-28 MPG range on a 100 mile drive.

NHSTA did tests in the early 70's. 56 mph is the actual optimal speed for most any vehicle to get max efficiency. Dump truck or motorcycle, 56 mph is best speed for max mpg. Has everything to do with aerodynamic drag versus engine efficiency at certain rpms.

339mi + 23 miles = 362 miles for the tank. Not sure, when the low fuel level light comes on with a 21 gallon tank. My truck averages 23mpg and I fill up when the gauge gets below 1/4 tank (long before low fuel warning) and (The distance to empty readout) is always around 420 miles.
