Coming from a 4-door 2003 Honda Pilot, it was something I was use to so the Dual Cab was always on my mind.

I think that's the same thought-process for those who like Access Cabs and Long Beds.

People should get what they want and be happy...period.

It's a shame Toyota is not producing the AC (as has been said) but that was more than likely a business decision.

I'm good with the 5-ft bed...it suits my needs and I've used it to haul Queen Size mattresses/box springs to the dump!

The compact features are convenient in parking lots. It does everything my Pilot did + it has leaf springs! lol

I don't know about the polo-wearing twit description but "this guy" loves his Short-bed Sport with the "Skewp!"

Hm, glad I purchased my 2022 AC last year. Rear seats... almost forgot I had stored them in the attic. Sure like those swing out rear doors too.

 

I will admit I probably wouldn’t have bought my AC if it came with back seats.

 

I hear ya. Mine came with seats, but a platform with storage hatches and a molle panel on the rear panel would be the ideal setup in an access cab, IMO.

 

Removed my access cab seats for more storage, but like having usable doors to access my mini fridge and other gear. Is XtraCab only going to be for Base and PreRunner? Disappointing if it isn't even an option for the TRD Off Road model.

 

4 door pickup trucks are ugly as fuck.

If you got rid of the seat, why keep the head rests? When I gutted my rear, they went with the seats. Serve no purpose other than to take up room.

Actually this increases my interest in the 24 access cab. I'm single, no kids, no dog. Those seats are totally useless if you're over about 8-10 years old, so I would've deleted them too. I'm happy to see a SR trim with a manual again as all I need it for is to haul my happy ass to work. Groceries in bed, under tonneau cover and roll on. Will say I may be biased against the 1/2 door. My only experience with them is in s10s or my buddy's f350. They're either always not latching correctly/rattling and causing increased road/wind noise or the damn handle is broken. Not enough benefit for me to put up with that...
I was more pissed about no access cab on TRD sport trim. Means basic bitch or crew cab are my only options for a manual trans. I'm gonna wait for at least 25, then buy an SR once they've worked out all the bugs.

 

Here's Why The 2024 Toyota Tacoma XtraCab Doesn't Have A Back Seat.
The 2024 Toyota Tacoma is a breath of fresh air. With fresh styling, new engines, and a sophisticated interior, it's a great improvement over the outgoing (but still very popular) model. Interestingly, the latest iteration will do away with a feature offered by the current generation: rear seats in the shorter cab model.

According to Sheldon Brown, Chief Engineer at Toyota Motor North America, a staggering 50% of smaller cab customers specified a rear seat delete on the last Tacoma. Instead of offering buyers what they don't want, the Japanese automaker has redesigned the space for maximum storage. When you look at the statistics, this move starts to make sense.

Only 3% of 2022 Tacoma drivers utilize their rear seats daily. The majority (39%) have people in the back less than once a month, while 30% admitted never using the second row.

This two-door model will continue to be sold as the XtraCab. Toyota says this derivative is all about "maximum utility" which means it's aimed at tradespeople and customers who use their vehicles as workhorses. While there aren't any seats, customers can look forward to lockable, floor-mounted stowage compartments that can accommodate tools and other important equipment.
To gain quick and easy access to the rear quarters of the XtraCab, the driver's seat will feature a long-slide function (with a memory setting) that allows you to grab tools quickly without ruining your driving position. Two bed sizes (five- and six-foot) will be made available, but the XtraCab receives the longer bed as standard.

Unfortunately, the Tacoma XtraCab is only available in three trim grades: SR, SR5, and TRD PreRunner. If you want the desirable Trailhunter derivative, you'll have to upgrade to the four-door Double Cab.

While some buyers may be disappointed by the news, it's great to see Toyota streamlining its options and catering to distinct commercial and private segments. In a workhorse, secure storage space is far more important than jump seats, and we're sure Toyota's target market will appreciate this decision.

I personally, would be willing to give a little of the space of the Xtracab in place of an even longer bed.

 

I've owned 2 "access cab" trucks without rear doors for a total of about 30 years between them and managed just fine. The full slide seat will help more than you think for gaining access to things in the back.

 

Ppl thought I was crazy for searching out an 21 SR AC with the 2.7l but man I’m glad I did. That motor is no more and so is the usable AC. I’m also going to join the club and say yes it’s a light duty truck but with 4x4 it has taken all I need it to for now. Perfect daily driver. Hope to get a million miles on this truck cause I ain’t selling it ever.

 

Mine came with back seats. Even my sr5 access cab tundra had back seats.

 

The only solid thing Toyota did was give the SR a manual again. That what my 3rd gen 2.7l is missing

 

The small-offset frontal passenger side was “Marginal.” More solid (non-swinging) material in the sides will help.

I also understand that newer tests will now consider rear passengers if there is a seat….that may be what truly killed it.
