How would you take care of this peeling?

Those look more like decorative steps.
To fix correctly your have to strip and recoat. but for the price and effort I’d buy something new, if you plan on keeping the truck for a long time to come. Coatings are tough, especially in cheap products in that location. I bought actual steel sliders bare, and used roll on bed liner. It’s lasted very well, and is easy to touch up.
You could always scrape and wire wheel the bad spots and touch up with spray paint.

Lol I know! Rock slidrer, side steps, decorative steps, mall crawler... whatever you call it. Let's not get bogged down on that haha.

The point is to stop it from further peeling or fixing it.

Do you use the step? I would remove altogether if you can

Scrap it off with a putty knife and spray with bed liner. :humble:

Yes, when washing/cleaning the roof. It protects the side and side under body from dirt, rock chips, snow. Plus I like how it looks. I've seen many Tacos without any steps, and looks like wearing shoes and no socks lol

I’d just pickup some used steps from a take off, usually about 150 for a fairly new pair

best idea yet! It might take a bit, but I'd guess the resale on new/ish OEs is for shit.

    Just some stuff...
This is probably your best route. Pretty straight forward. Uninstall them first, scrape off the plastic coating. Give them a quick sanding and a few coats of bed liner and your done. Also, from now on touch ups will be easy!
Edit: You can even use the aerosol version instead of the roll on. Less mess! I used some rustoleum bed liner on a set of ditch light brackets a while back that came out nice.
