So I got the brake override malfunction today. Unplugged the battery (ended up replacing it as well since it was about time), changed the 10A STOP fuse, and ran a code reader.

Anyone have any thoughts or fixes? I’m not the most mechanically inclined, so pretend I’m a 4th grader. If I get it towed to the dealer I’m likely going to leave it there and buy a new one lol

Codes came back right away. I also had the same brake malfunction light before and after the battery was replaced.

Well… maybe someone will chime in soon.I can only find one thread on here with that code and no answer on the cause …I can’t access ALLDATA from home … but it looks like your going to need some wiring diagnostics

Yeah, same. That’s what I am afraid of. Might go and test each individual fuse this weekend lol

Do you have any mods installed? Including converting to LED's, or a pedal commander?

Attached is the documentation for that code. The code you show is a SAE code, this is the "true" code.

No recent mods. OTT done almost a year ago is the only mod. Came with raptor lights but they are disconnected and the previous fuse they were on looks fine.

Edit: After reading the doc I checked the ETCS fuse and there wasn’t even one in my truck…I put the spare fuse in the location for the ETCS and still get the same message.

How are the brake light bulbs? I think there have been cases of a filament in the dual filament bulbs breaking/burning out and crossing the other one causing the brake override warning to pop up.

This is the one thing I haven’t checked yet, that I have been meaning to. Planning on doing so when I get home.

Anyone know how to get the truck into limp mode. I have a push start and can get it to start by holding down the start button for 15 seconds, but can’t get it out of park due to the brake malfunction error. My understanding was that there was a way to get it into limp mode somehow. Tried clearing the code with the code reader to no avail.

This should allow you to shift it out of park.

So after replacing the 10A fuse one more time (and actually testing the fuse), I was able to get the truck in limp mode. The fuse does not blow anymore. I also cleared the code, but still stayed in limp mode and code came back after clearing. I eventually switched out the ETCS fuse and was able to get out of limp mode and clear the code. So far it now starts up and runs as it should.

Im curious that you mention pedal commander, I have one (pedal commander) and have been getting this error msg, truck goes in to limp mode, shut engine off for a min, start back up and error msg goes away but it randomly comes back, been trying to figure out why this happens.. any input on why the pedal commander would trigger this code??

I don't think anyone has found an actual cause, but I would speculate faulty hardware (pedal commander) or even just the 3rd Gen being a sensitive snowflake.
