    I'm a fan of keeping this build under $50000. Especially when it comes to bundling wires with no thermal resistance requirements

    I've been following this since day one. Beyond all of the fabrication and dealing with fitment issues and tons of small details that you gave full attention to, I just have to say that your motivation to keep moving forward has been the most impressive part of the whole build. Congrats on getting this far, I'm anxious to see the post when you do the first rip around the neighborhood.

    I got mine from Amazon, bought a couple different sizes from 1/8" to 1/2". Seems like quality stuff and doesn't have that bend from being wrapped tight in a package like what you get from a local store.

    For tape, I've been using Nitto black electrical tape. Bought a bundle of ten rolls on Amazon but can't find it now. It closely resembles Toyota/Lexus tape used in their harnesses. I use 3M Super 33+ in some parts of the harness.

    Thread title is a little misleading, though; an engine swap seems easy compared to this. You're basically building a new car, lol.

    So today I made a good discovery. After staring at the air conditioning wiring diagrams of both vehicles for a good while I realized that both vehicles have a hot 50a wire that runs to the blower fan. The GX460 handles turning on that fan in a different way but that doesn't really matter. At first I though I would have to run a standalone wire to the fuse box hook up a relay there. Since I have everything I need behind the glove box I am just going to wire up the relay and fuse adjacent to the blower motor. The black wire is the 50a on the Lexus and the black with yellow is the wire after the relay on the Tacoma. This saves me a lot of time! Also yes I going to hook up ACT and AC1 directly and see what happens. And yes I cut the relay and fuse holder out of the Tacoma fuse box lol. It's not stupid if it works.

    I also realized that basically the Tacoma has 1 hot 50a wire and a bunch of grounds with a resistor to control fan speed. In essence, when you turn the fan switch you are grounding the fan with various levels of resistance. I've never really dove this deep into this system but it is amazingly simple and robust.

    It doesn’t sound like you’re aware of this but there are a few threads dedicated to how NOT robust the fan speed control is. It fails to a high only mode with the plastic of the plug melting and the terminals carbonizing. The resistors generate too much heat for the air moving past them to dissipate. I believe it’s worse on medium and medium high rather than low speed. The plug and resistor module have been upgraded.

    Yea the Lexus would use PWM blower control (as most automatic temp control systems do) with a speed controller built into the blower motor. The HVAC control sends a duty cycle signal to the speed control to regulate blower speed.

    The Tacoma uses a traditional resistor and relay blower control.

    Okay guys I need to phone a friend for this one. I didn't think much of these two wires until I looked at the pinout chart. The AC amplifier is looking for a square pulse wave signal from the Tach and Coolant Temp gauge. The Lexus does not have those signals as is communicates this info through the network, I think. I suspect the AC won't turn on without those two inputs. I am not an electrical engineer so I need some suggestions on how to trick the ac amp into normal operating conditions. Any suggestions?
