I've never had any issues with this truck. It does have the Smart Key/push button start.

The start button light won't turn green when the brake is depressed. It turns on Accessory and Ignition. I cannot shift gears with the Ignition on. It is in Park.

    1. Remote battery- getting 3.2 volts. Swapped it out with another just in case; nothing.

    2. Steering wheel lock- does not appear to be the issue. With the ignition on, I wiggle the wheel. No change.

    3. Smart Key Deactivation- As far as I can tell, I don't have this switch.

I even tried a spare remote. Both remotes lock/unlock the truck just fine and have good batteries. Neither will allow the Start button green light to come on when the brake is depressed.

On another note, I noticed that the brake lights do NOT come on when the brake pedal is depressed. Perhaps a switch connected to the brake pedal?

Most all push to start require the brake to be pressed to start. You need to address the lack of brake lights. Once you figure that out, I bet the truck starts.

I checked all fuses that appeared to be relevant under the hood and dash.

    Nothing.

Another note, this did happen after I removed my driver side brake light LED because it wasn’t functioning. I determined it was a bad LED, reinstalled it to replace later, then this happened.

Sounds like a fuse or that LED is causing issues. Put in a stock bulb and see if it works? If it still doesnt, its probs a fuse...I would imagine.

I’d have to pull up the wiring diagrams.
But you are going to need power to and from the brake switch. I always use a test light when possible to check fuses. Check both sides of the fuse for power.

We need to figure out why the brake lights aren’t working.

With all the fuse replies, I checked again. This time, I went through ALL of them.
One labeled STOP was burned out. That did the trick.

    who labels this shit??

ive seen alot of problems with led tail lights
and on my 2022 you can hold the start button for 20 or 30 seconds without using brake pedal and it will start

    Nearly weekly.
I will credit the OP for including this important piece of information though. Many leave this out and have folks guessing.

How difficult is it to build a car/truck that will still crank even if a light bulb is out.

JimminyCricket has it come to this?

I’d guess (more like bet) it would still start with a bulb out. Now, if you go adding electrical doodads? All bets are off, but let’s not pretend that’s as of recent.

brakes systems used to be simple when they were mechanical (hydraulic) but now they are also part electrical and electronics, and could effect the starting
