    Hello everyone,

I’m new to having a Tacoma. It’s my first one. It’s a Magnetic Gray 2020 SR5 V6 Double Cab 5’ bed. Will post pictures soon.

The stereo is the 8” screen as I wanted the biggest one. However, it didn’t have an option for the JBL speakers to go along with it apparently. So I’m trying to install JBL speakers or JL Audio speakers. Does anyone know which speakers would be best out of those two brands? Which speakers should I specifically to look into? Also, if there are any issues I should be aware of before I install such as additional wires, issues some of you may have encountered, etc.?

    please and thank you!

Whenever I have had audio questions or concerns, Crutchfield has served me well. I'd contact them and see what they recommend if anything

There’s a great write up on someone that did Kicker’s all around for his 2016+ Tacoma non JBL. I actually followed his exact setup and it sounds amazing! Search for the best sound under $250 and it’ll come up.

If you keep the OEM head unit, recommend you get efficient speakers, 92db or better.

I just ordered Hertz Uno replacements. They are 94.5 dB efficient, interested in how they sound!

Define “Alpine system”? Headunit, speakers, amp(S), sub(S), etc.

What features do you not want to lose? Birdseye cameras, steering wheel controls, center cluster info screen? Need the deets man!

    Got it.

Okay, so, safest bet on the cameras and such, not Alpine. From what I’ve read, most P-n-P option is the Sony XAV-9500ES. Keeps the cameras, just not sure about the center cluster info screen. https://trailgridpro.com/products/sony-xav-9500es-plug-play-bundle-16-22-tacoma/

From there, go to www.Crutchfield.com and search up your desired speakers. Crutchfield, when you buy speakers from them, include the adapters to connect the speakers to the vehicle harness, no cutting, and brackets to mount said speakers. Personally, I prefer the Type-R lineup, components in the front, coaxial in the rear.

Sub requires running power and ground wire (power from the battery, ground to a GOOD body ground), as well as an RCA cable and remote turn on from the headunit to your amp mounting location, as well as a good amp. Then you need a box/sub combo in another suitable location. Again, personally, I have a Hertz MPS300 sub(MPS250 works easier) and a KENWOOD XR901-5 5 channel. I’d suggest a KENWOOD XR601-1 for its smaller size and 600w at 2ohm and 400 at 4ohm.
