Plenty of 2nd gen mods out there.

And the bolt pattern is common... Allowing for a multitude of wheel options.

    Enjoy the Taco.

If you decide to go bigger wheels then most from RAV4s, Highlanders, and Siennas are a straight swap.
Also, consider a tailgate liner replacement. The 2nd generation tailgates are flimsy.

Oh yea those would be good too! Can’t go wrong with those! I seen plenty of 5 lugs on those, an they hold up pretty well! An it’s a lot cheaper than the others.

Homeboy didn’t wanna tell you so i will, i know he has the spacer lift an add a leaf, along with the 3 inch body lift kit an maybe some newer shocks up front an rear. So it’s technically a 5.75” up front an less in the back. It looks good from some angles but not all around, no matter if you got big tires or not. I live in hawaii an have one tons of lifted 5 lugs an got some that are exactly like his an it doesn’t look good to me cause all that frame is showing an it doesn’t match if you know what i mean. It’s not like the older school models where it kinda looks okay. But to each their own i guess..☕️

Weekend project, took longer than anticipated but happy with results. Rock auto was running (might still be going) some amazing deals on bilsteins and brakes. I picked up 4600's for the front, gas-a-justs for the back, and front pads/rotors (wagner oex). Everything I bought was on sale so i made out like a Tahitian bandit. Had not realized how blown my front shocks were, makes a huge difference. Brakes were just about done with 70k on the clock also, so it was high time to do it all. IMG_3163.jpg

Here's my '96 5-lug, I lifted it 2.5/3 inches using spindles & shackles, and got some 15x8 ProComps with 235/75/r15 GY Wrangler Trailrunner ATs. Loving the way it sits now, and drives great too. Looking at taking it on some light dirt trails soon.

Here’s mine! ‘97 with the fab tech 3” lift kit. Just put on the grill and headlights. I want to put on the ‘98 bumper with the chrome corners. Not sure if it’s a direct swap though.

Do you know if that bumper will swap out with no bracket change on a ‘97?

Did you do some cutting to the front bumper for those tires? If so what did you use

I cut the corners off with a $4 tiny hack saw from Lowe's. I cut an angle out of about 2".

Did you need to remove the bumper or were you able to do it still attached?
I’ve removed most of the rubbing and those bumper corners are the last thing I need to get off

The bumper cover a direct swap.

I have a 98 with the similar bumper and swapped my cover to the one you mention. I scrapped the bumper for the better look. just gotta hope I never hit anything. Click the sig link for pics.

    O.k. I'll play.
But 1st a real basic (ignorant om my part)
    Years ago I owned a 1st gen 4runner. I learned from that all 4wd were 6 lug & 2wd were 5 lug. On 2nd gen I assumed all 2wd were 5 until noticing a 6 lug preRunner. Any spacific schooling i need?

Heres my new to me xRunnerResized_20230430_200305.jpg Resized_signal-2023-04-23-20-42-33-302.jpg

    Hmmm…
What are you doing with the stocker wheels? And looks like someone spent some money removing the Tupperware from the X or is it a real X? It rides fairly high for an X. :notsure:
When I was looking for a X the one mod I wanted to do was to remove all the Tupperware from the truck but the front air dam and even the hood, but that’s just me.

I like the look of the aftermarket rims but will probably go back to the O.E. set eventually as the aftermarket are almpst brand new. Talked seller out of the 4 xRunner 5 lugs he had planned on putting on the other non XRunner. Same truck he robbed the body stuff for. Why do people do some things they do?? Dunno? The truck looks higher as its missing the kit, kinda what they do. It sits a good 6" lower than any "normal gen2 ive seen.

Yes, the pink says xRunner, VIN numbers all good, x brace, rear sway bar, spare xRunner rim under truck, 6 speed manual/4.0, all fender flare area holeLESS (only seen this on XRunner).
