Oh yeah never updated turns out it was literally just the wire, inside the loom i noticed a tiny spot of corrosion so i spliced recconected and heatshrinked and my issue went away maybe it just got knicked and over time corroded explains why mine just happened out of nowhere and was hard to find

Update: ECU replaced and truck is back to normal. What an expensive lesson. Again, I appreciate folks jumping on the help out.

Wow that’s crazy your ECU took a dump out of nowhere. Glad you got it all sorted out.

So trying to start it with the wrong key fried the ecu? Or just coincidental timing?

I’d be surprised if it was coincidental. And my f-up was a lot more than simply trying to start. I cranked on it, obviously getting everything but it to fire. I tried that several times, holding starter for several seconds. The. I tried triaging- open/close gas cap in case it’s a vent issue, tried starting. Removed, checked EFI fuses, tried starting. Neutral, roll backwards, tried starting. Battery disconnect then re-connect, tried starting. Battery disconnect 10 mins, reconnect, tried starting. All that bs before realizing what I was doing.

So, I have nothing else to point it to other than me. Rig is a 2015 with 48k only on it, garaged, no rodent issues etc. think this was all me, and clearly more than just trying to start with spare key.
