Why would they mention a 4 runner at a 4th gen tacoma reveal...They didn't mention a Prius either...guess they are discontinuing that one too.

Even if they were mentioning another model at a reveal...it would be another model in the same class of vehicle....like a truck which the 4runner is not....

It's not the cash cow for Toyota that people think it is. Every other Toyota truck is produced in NA for far less money, and those trucks Tacoma, Tundra, and Sequioa bring in more money at a lower cost than 4R. The 5th gen is built in Japan and Toyota pays to ship the vehicles to NA, despite the design being dated Toyota is not making that much per unit. The sales numbers aren't that great in NA. Toyota makes more per 4R selling them in other markets.

Tacoma was talked about at every Tundra, and Sequioa event. It's all top secret with 4R.

2021 was the best selling year of all time for the 4Runner. There was some talk of discontinuation about 7-10 years ago, but I don’t think that’s on the table anymore. With the new GX about to be announced, I would expect the 4Runner announcement won’t be that far behind.

I'm sure they accounted for that with the next Gen 4R. If it shares the platform with the 4G Tacoma then the engines, suspensions, and all other major components are already developed and engineered. It also would not surprise me if they move production to one of the Tacoma Factories if they designed for extra capacity.

6th gen 4Runner will probably be 2025 model year. I have my doubts but Toyota might not have 2024 model year 5th gen 4R. Could be all 2023s that arrive later into 24.

I really hope the 4Runner doesn't go away. Now that ACLB trucks are dinosaurs like me, I've been considering the 4R as my next vehicle. I need high clearance and 4WD. If I only get a 5ft. bed, maybe I'll get and SUV instead,.

There is talk about bringing the Land Cruiser name back to the US with the Prado variant. Too similar to the 4Runner. No way they will market both.

Prado has been here for awhile, it is the Lexus GX 460. Have been marketing both for years, don’t see that stopping.

There is talk of bringing the LC 300, not sure why, the 200 barely cleared 3500/yearly sales before they pulled it from the US.

The luxury market will just build up the Lexus LX600.

Yeah, it's possible. Or MY24 is just a short production run and MY25 comes early. Toyota has done it both ways, but I would say the latter is more typical.

SUV makes more sense than DCSB. We had a Trooper, could sleep in the back of that for camping without having to do to much, have to get creative with a DCSB.
