Transmission mounting issues

    Currently having trouble putting my new transmission in I have bolted the torque converter to the flywheel/flex plate now I’m having trouble sliding it into place I’m using a tranny lift an tips or tricks or complete guides on how to install the transmission

    The torque converter should be installed in the transmission and seated properly in the pump before installing the transmission onto the engine, otherwise you risk damaging the transmission and/or torque converter.

    You should always be able to turn the torque converter freely when installing the transmission and after the transmission is bolted up, if you can't the something is not right.

    Torque converter bolts are installed after the transmission is bolted up to the engine.

    Here is the removal and install from the Factory Service Manual. As @Dm93 already stated, order of operations is key. Good luck.

    You would only need to access the crankshaft bolt to turn the crankshaft to get to each converter bolt.
    The converter bolts are accessed through the opening where the starter goes, did you read through the PDF that @DesertRatliff posted?

    Yes, install the TC onto the transmission first, and make sure it is fully seated, or else you can damage the transmission. This has been standard procedure for 50+ years. It is not that hard to rotate the engine and install the TC hardware.
