Hey all, I have a leaky therm housing(that's what I'm calling the area as I know that's where the therm is) it seems kinda new but I just got the truck in feb-mar. from a car lot. I'm at 204k miles but I'm not getting a code or high temps, suggestions?

Therm and plastic housing sold as a unit.
You can try tightening the 3 nuts as the torque is 80 in-lbs or divide by 12 and 6.66 ft lbs and hard to reach so when I did mine just tightened snugly but do not break studs off.
If you are lucky they replaced it and were lazy and never tightened it as an O-ring seals the housing.
If not remove and clean and see o-ring condition then reinstall. Buy new as required.
It helps to have the special hose clamp pliers as its hard to get pliers on.

I’d just replace the thermostat since it’s cheap and easy

I have a 4 cylinder so not apples to apples, but like others said just replace the leaky stuff. Parts should just be:

    Thermostat
    Thermostat housing
    Thermostat gasket

At 204k miles, it’s cheap insurance. I doubt a car lot would’ve replaced the thermostat.

In the meantime, check the coolant reservoir and make sure you have enough in there. I’m guessing you will as this doesn’t look like a large leak. But ensure the reservoir stays above the LOW level so you have enough coolant until this leak is fixed.

unsurprisingly the top bolt was loose, i dont have a short enough socket to reach the other two but i think the top was the issue. a replacement is likely going to happen either way. thank you!

going to replace soon, the coolant levels are good for now, i can baby it for a while. thank you two as well.
