Think I've decided on a red TRD Sport double cab 4x4 MT with premium package. Problem is my local dealer isn't usually priced well and is relatively low volume. Where should I start in the southeast to get competitive pricing without a bunch of BS and deal add on's.

I'm in central Alabama and the dealers in the Atlanta GA area seem to have better advertised prices than what I see locally.

Probably due to all the competing Toyota dealerships in the Atlanta area, and higher volume of sales.

But they all will try to slide in add-ons at some point in the deal, as I'm sure you know.

You might try going to toyota.com and "virtually" build the truck you want, then let it search dealers within 500 miles or so. Pick three or four dealers to talk to and let them compete for your business.

Good Luck and Welcome to Tacoma World!

So does anyone know if anyone is getting new TRD Sport, Off Road or Pro for MSRP or less? I briefly talked to a guy at Atlanta Toyota today and he was very vague on pricing but acted like msrp wasn't happening. I don't mind calling around but if everyone is gonna want a few grand over plus a bunch of BS dealer add-ons it might make me buy a new Frontier. I've got a decent local Nissan dealer, can get a Pro4x for $45k with leather and options.

Was really looking into the 6sp manual so I can controls shift points as I've not heard good stuff about the 6sp auto. The new Tacoma looks good but will be years I bet till the price comes down and kind of wanna stick with N/A engine so I don't have to worry about turbo/hybrid issues.

I don't know about SE, but in socal, depending on what you are looking, dealers will readily handout discounts on more popular models... trying to get the MT is going to be hard by itself.

you can fix the shift points in the Tacoma, and over time they tend to settle down and the truck behaves more normally; I'm not sure that would be enough of a reason to going either manual or Nissan.

So are people just using aftermarket tuners kits to tweak the auto? I've got a 6sp auto on my CX-5 and is fine but I just see a lot of people online trashing the Tacoma auto. I should probably just test drive one?

Anyone know of any good threads comparing the new Frontier and the current Tacoma?

Got my LR OR DCSB M/T for $1000 off MSRP without any dealer add-on’s at the end of April. My dealer had a SO M/T pro inbound and wanted 5k over for it. I am in OH, so most local dealers to me are not charging over MSRP except for the rarer vehicle’s GR Corolla, and pro’s.

Tunes to "fix" the automatic are very common.

I would just try every dealer and ask them if they "order" you a truck will they sell at MSRP. If they don't walk out and try the next one.
-Maybe sell it up and tell them you trade every few years but like to keep your truck pristine and will be in to get all the recommended services...

I never found one dealership thats 100% consistent on fair dealing and pricing. Its the sales staff. And the surefire best method to find a good sales person to work with is to pick up the telephone and have conversations. I keep my ass parked on the couch, phone in hand, until I find that one person that is knowledgeable, reasonable, and straight-talking enough to compel me to make the drive.

I could post all day about how I grabbed a great deal at Unicorn-Dusty's Toyota, but the guy that was five seconds behind me got absolutely reamed. Its who you work with, not where. I like to know who I'm working with.

That's my humble advice. Pick up the phone and get some first-person, first impressions.

I ended up buying a super clean 2021 Voodoo Blue TRD Off Road, 57k miles, auto 4x4, loaded with leather and lots of options. The previous owner added a bunch of good stuff, black TRD Pro wheels, black Pro front grill, cat back exhaust, LED tail lights, lift kit, Goodyear Wranglers with 14k on them and K&N CAI. Got it from Marshall Dry Ridge Toyota for $36,800 with the great CPO warranty which I think was a steal with all the upgrades on a clean truck with warranty.
