I was installing footwell lights, and while I was down there I noticed this plug, seems like it goes into the engine? But I couldn't find anywhere where it might be plugged into. Does anybody know what it is?

    Sorry, not that last one.

This site is unnecessarily difficult to use on mobile lol.

My guess it’s an option that you don’t have. What option, I don’t know.

Poke around a lot more and you will find dozens of unused connectors in these vehicles. Look a bit higher at that same location and I have another two of those small connectors on my truck taped to the various harnesses. Many I will never know what they are. I have several theories; Options I did not get, test and manufacturing points, etc..

We’ve identified the wood pic as Red Oak, that’s progress. The unidentified connector appears to be white plastic. Function still unknown.

As far as I'm aware, I only have a tonneau cover lol. Everything else seems to be as basic as can be, no blind spot monitoring, no LED headlights, I'm not the first owner, but from what I can tell I believe I just have a barebones 2017 "off-road" trim

I got ya. I can't remember if I had that or not when I installed my remote start. It was in that area. I also have blind spot monitoring, a sun roof, dual climate, and heated seats. Although I don't believe most of that, if any, would matter to that particular plug. I suppose it could be remote start related. I have the N2 Designs remote start, but I can't remember everything about the install since it was 3 years ago.

Is the truck previously owned? If so it can be aftermarket.

The truck was previously owned, but from what I can tell, it's bone stock, and was owned by a grandma. I havent seen any indication of anything done to the vehicle.

Haha, I actually found it while installing my remote start/footwell light's. I didn't even know remote start was an option on these thing's OEM. Would a remote starter be 2 pin though? I'm thinking a light, or an on/off switch for something, but there's no switches that I'm seeing that would have been aftermarket. The vehicle looked so so so stock, part of the reason why I picked it. I wanted to make sure I was the one who messed it up, not someone else lol.

And what I have shown is all the slack the cable had, I feel like it would have gone to something in that area?

Could you do me a favor and poke around in that corner down there? You don't have to find it, or see what it's plugged into, I just feel like the plug not being unplugged on your vehicle might be an indication that it's behind to one of your options? Heated steering wheel with the heated seats or something maybe?

There's a connector in there for the towing brake accessory (like a Redarc) but I think it's bigger (has more pins) than that one.
