    Hey all,

Longtime lurker, a first-time poster. I just picked up my first Tacoma about a week ago. I traded in my 2008 Supercharged Tundra for a White 2013 TRD Off-road. The truck came out of California and was government-owned before I bought it ( still trying to decide if that is a good thing or not, lol). I bought the truck because I want to get back into off-roading. I previously had a very modified 2012 Nissan Frontier that I wheeled a ton in Moab and all around Utah. After a 6 year stint living in Texas, I moved back to the mountains about a year ago and I have been itching to get back on the trails ever since.

The truck mechanically seems to be in great shape. I took it to a trusted mechanic before purchasing it and got a clean bill of health. The interior was a bit of a mess, I think that the truck may have been owned by Fish and Game or some other government entity in CA and it was rarely cleaned or vacuumed. The dealer I purchased it through did a good job cleaning it out but I have spent the last two weekends pulling the dash and overhead console apart and cleaning dust from every recess of the truck. I am not a neat freak by any means, but there was so much dust in the thing that it was causing some switches such as the map and dome lights, stereo volume, and fog lights to stick. It's been a bit of a project but I've enjoyed using it as an opportunity to get to know the inner workings of the dash and its components. One thing I have yet to figure out is the Speedometer. It's off by approximately 13 miles per hour ( when the speedo reads 65, GPS says im going 77). I do have BFG KO2 285/70r17's on the truck but I know that is too big of an error to be tire size alone. I have noticed that when stopped, the speedo needle does not sit at zero, it sits a good half inch below zero so I am wondering if maybe that is the issue. Has anyone experienced anything like that? I searched the forum but didn't find anything where the speedo seems to work as normal, just with the needle landing in the wrong position....anyway ill do some more digging but feedback is appreciated.

Plans for the truck are as follows:

Ditch the spacer lift the dealer-installed for Bilstein 5100's

    SPC UCA's

Cab Mount Chop - If anyone knows anyone in the SLC or Utah County area that can do them let me know, I used to work at Fat Bob's Garage in Layton and know they do them but that's a bit out of my way.

    White Knuckle Offroad Sliders

    A set of Skids

    HAM and GMRS radio stuff

And other than that it's all just little stuff. Anyway, sorry for the long-winded intro, I'm stoked to be here and getting back out on the trails soon!
