Anyone have any experiences with this dealership? I'm working offshore and have been talking to this dealership about picking up a new Tacoma at the end of May. I put down a deposit and they charged me twice for it, yet they say their records only show one deposit. Not a great start to purchasing a new truck. Hoping this is a fluke, as it happens, and the rest of the process will be fine.

    Any thoughts?

Different dealer, but same thing had happened when I put my deposit down. Are the charges still pending? If so when it clears, only one of the charges will clear.

Not sure how Tonkin is, but I highly recommend Toyota of Beaverton for service. They won’t take note of every mod you have like some service departments do. Even rotated my 33s on my routine ToyotaCare service. Some other service departments go as far as giving a printout of recommended services and tag every mod and aftermarket light installed with the price and recommendation to go back to stock.

They are a reputable dealership up here. I used to deal with their parts department a lot but haven’t ever purchased a vehicle from them.

If you have the CC statement it’s easy enough to prove if you have been charged twice. I wouldn’t worry since they would have an imbalance of their books if they did indeed charge you more than once. Have the charges both posted?

I used to work for them in a past life. They are one of the largest and very reputable. Per @Potamus, sometimes pending charges will remain after the actual charge goes through. It will probably drop off in a short time. Just keep an eye on your account.

Thanks for the reply fellas. Good to hear they are good people. The charges went through the 9th & 10th of this month. It's in the hands of the credit card company now, no big deal.

Late to the thread, but I’ll throw another .02 about Tonkin.
Purchased my first Tacoma through them, almost got my second from them as well(other dealership wouldn’t swap inventory though) and a buddy sold for them for awhile. They’re legit, still a dealership, but not trying to scam anyone more than any other dealer does.

Yeah man. Everything worked out flawlessly. Actually had some hiccups on my end (bank) and these guys went the extra mile to help me out. Would for sure do business with them in the future.
