I have a check engine light throwing code
P0125. I’ve replaced the thermostat and the coolant temp sensor so now I need to replace the upstream air fuel ratio sensor. All of the replacements like the one on the link have the plate that mounts to the exhaust pipe. On my truck the sensor is just screwed in with no plate does anyone know if I can take the mounting plate off or a sensor that doesn’t mount with the plate?
I attached a pic of mine it may be easier to see what I’m saying. Thanks for the help!

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
You should be able to find a screw in sensor with some hunting.

Our stock sensors with the plate do not have threads to screw in.

You can always replace the bung with the type that uses studs.

For the models that have the plate and the threads is it possible to just take the plate off and use the threads or do the threads not line up?

    Worth a try I suppose.

None of the OEM ones that I recall are screw on, even with a plate. They are all one piece 2 bolt flange style...

What you have via your picture is something aftermarket, so your solution will have to be the same unfortunately.

That’s kind of what I was afraid of, I picked it up a couple weeks ago for a good deal but the current owner did not have a full list of everything that was done so I’m going through it now and some of the upgrades have been good, some of the “upgrades” are like this exhaust system that are making things difficult

Dont get discouraged, it can always be corrected! You have a damn good base to started with, and its definitely worth fixing and correcting. If you have the skills, fabricate up a 2 bolt flange and some m8 - 1.25 studs can be welded in and a new OEM air/fuel sensor bolted in! Wham bam your good to go!

I literally just did that today on my new exhaust.

Really appreciate it! I found this one this afternoon, the only one that seems that I can unthread the plate I’ll try this as a temporary fix but I’ll be moving soon to somewhere with some good shop space and am looking to get a welder and when the situation allows I’ll opt for a better more permanent fix like what you described. Thanks again for the explanation and the help!

I am wondering if that is a Bosch LSU 4.9 sensor. Does your truck have supercharger or a turbo?

What does the plug end look like?

Bosch makes a universal fit thread in O2 which is pretty handy. Takes a little electrical work but nothing time consuming or wire chasing related thankfully.

Pictured is what is referred to as a wideband o2 sensor. These are used by aftermarket piggyback computers to manage fuel and timing, to set the A/F ratio. But if you do not have SC or turbo then you can disregard my comment.

Curious why you are wanting to swap out your upstream sensor. The P0125 code does not point to that specifically. Are you also getting other error codes like P0031 or P0174?

I already replaced the thermostat and the coolant temp sensor and the like cel was off for about a mile of driving them came back on, reading up a bit some people said that replacing the air fuel sensor helped and that when that goes bad it’d sometimes cause that code

Update for if anyone else is having a similar issue down the road, I found a sensor that was threaded that fit and between the sensor, the thermostat, and the coolant temp sensor the cel is no longer there
