Just curious if the OVTiune is still making people happy or have people moved on? I'm trying to decide on a tune for the sole purpose of reducing/eliminating the gear hunting. Thanks y'all

Will the final tune ever be released?

    OVTune became VFTuner.

I had the original OVT handheld device. Their Stage1 tune was nice. Their canned stage2 tune for me actually lost HP and I made the switch to HP Tuner.

The OVT handheld device is now a nifty OBDII reader and data logger. But besides that, it's useless for an item that was originally north of $500.

You want to eliminate gear hunting? Use HP Tuner and get a hold of Overland Tailored Tuning. https://overlandtailor.com/

Why didn't you just have OTT email you files to download with the OV/VF hardware you have?

Doesn't work like that. At least not to my knowledge.

I don't know the in's and out's but I do remember that his software developers was not in the US. The files were uploaded to a central repository which the OvT device contacted to push/pull files when authentication was successful.

I think the files read/write/execute are different between OvT and HP Tuner. Apples to oranges.

OVTune was banned from this site. Not for making a poor product, but for his negative interactions with members.

Consensus is OVTune is a solid product, but discussions on the subject are typically locked.

Lots has changed. I’m not familiar with HP, but I know I can get a tune from OTT and put it on my 3rd gen with VF tuner myself. There are a few/bunch tune makers to choose from these days.

I tried OV. It never did what I needed it to. I need to sell that tuner, and the Bully Dog tuner. Sold my UCON years ago. HP with a custom tune gave me the best results. Use whatever works best for you.

I used so much resources to get my truck tuned. I wish I never supercharged it, even if it is dialed in now.

It does, that’s how I do it. OV/VF tuner is the only option for a third gen, unless something has changed recently.
