Correct, which is in a car, which is what I stated earlier on this post, they put a car engine in a truck, expecting you to do truck things with it. which just doesn’t make sense to me

Well it doesn't have to make sense, it just what is in it. Toyota isn't going to engineer a truck like this and lie. It's just not their style. It's not easy to believe a small engine can put out so much power. But it does.

Well in case you didn't notice the 2gr is actually a car engine too and it has been 7 years in a truck so what is your point?

 

Yes, but they would still be experiencing a large and (more importantly) very noticeable sudden drop-off in torque if what you are saying is true.

Actually, quite the contrary, I’m not embarrassed at all, I’m just as ignorant to all of these changes as all of you are, and just like the last guy just stated. Very little detailed information has actually been given out, so how can you know more than they do?

 

You really need to do some research before coming in here and making a fool of yourself. You clearly don’t know anything about this platform with all the bs you keep regurgitating. If you wanna present valid criticisms then do a little work to learn about the new platform first, we shouldn’t have to spoon feed you the information.

That’s just it, none of you have the research because they’re giving out very little detailed information, so don’t act like you know something that the rest of us don’t have knowledge to. It’s all hearsay and speculation, I’m the only one asking the true questions to the real answers that haven’t been answered yet.

 

A Tacoma is a poor tow vehicle to start for 6k lbs in an area with lots of hills.

The 4th gen should theoretically tow better than any Tacoma before it though considering it finally has modern brakes and an engine that actually has torque.

 

You’re not “asking questions” you are making statements that are verifiably untrue even though the information is readily available in this very thread. The 4th gen has been fully unveiled, it’s not hearsay and speculation, Toyotas website even has the information. The T24A-FTS, the engine used in the new platform already has detailed breakdowns on it and the I force max hybrid system is the same design as the tundra which has been released already. We know how it works. Learn how to use google or read through this thread if you don’t believe us because you’re coming off as a troll.

 

Some of my stuff on here has been statements true, but I started out asking questions, but nobody could give any viable answers pertaining specifically to the 4th gen Tacoma engine situation, just speculation of what they’ve heard about other stuff that’s like it.
(but ironically, the person that fed me the information this morning conveniently isn’t answering his phone now for me to cross question him on the stuff I have seen you guys posting up today that is going against what he fed me.)

The 3rd gen you currently own has a car engine. You should be thrilled about the new powertrain in the 4th gen tacoma, same hp and much more torque at a lower rpm.

The Tacoma's aren't meant to tow, but they can. If that's your number one priority, then get a full size. The 4th gen should tow the same amount of weight much better compared to 3rd gen.

It’s still a V6 and still has more horsepower/torque than the four-cylinder engine there trying to offer now if you skip the electrical assistance.
