Not something I ever intend to do, so not really an issue. Do you haul manure often?

I think 4 runners are great.
I considered buying one when I bought the truck.
But yes! A majority of 4 runners in the Colorado mountains are driven by chicks who used to be the outdoorsy type but are now just yuppies :D
    Prove me wrong

The yuppies must be broke in your area. The yuppies around here drive Landcruisers and Lexus.

4Runners are just for us common folk around here.

The turbo engine will be fine if toyota over-designed the cooling system. The truck is a 50,000% improvement on the tundra - and I Feared that wide, mouth-breather grill from the tundra would carry down to the Tacoma.

But here's the real rub. Buy a new toyota tacoma: You spend $45,000+ for the same capability as a used 3rd gen for $30k, which has the same capability as a used 2nd Gen for $20k. People love paying way too much money to end up atop the same hill as anyone else who drives a 20 year old truck.

isn’t the trail hunter longbed only?
Isn’t long bed worse for a trail than short bed?

nothing is absolute. Longer wheelbases are better in some situations than others.

What @DetroitDarin says is true. I remember a spot where the 4Runner struggled a bit, but a double cab Taco walked right through.

But, in general, a shorter wheelbase is better for technical trails.

    concur!

what i like about a long wheelbase - the front tires enter the mud; back tires have grip. When back tires are in the mud, front tires gave grip :)

but we are talking less than a foot maybe. Its not something to draw absolutes about.

for example - me following a double locked jeep, with the same tires i have…my truck’s wheelbase helped immensely.

in other areas it was a liability. Just is what it is.

Fuckin' awesome! Not sure if it was the wheelbase, or driver skill, but well done!

    I also enjoyed the banter.

Do you have a plan? Nope.

I'm really hoping that the new Tundra rollout is a fluke. Otherwise, I'll have to agree with this statement.

If it makes anyone feel better I never considered 3rd Gen 3rd Gen, it was 2.5 Gen. It's practically new front fenders/grill and a different rear diff, everything else was what Toyota changed every 2-3 years anyway. Oh let me offer you a Camry engine. It was same cab for crying-out-loud. I never got excited for it is what I'm trying to say. I got in a friend's and it felt exactly the same except the hood seemed to be in the way from my view, felt like I cheated on my girl with her sister but she had a larger nose. The 4th Gen is a true change and I am excited about it, I can't wait to take out another mortgage.
