Aren't there aftermarket painted bumper covers out there, for a fraction of the cost???

    Yes, but those are cheap

It's only fun spending someone else's money when there's comma's involved!

You know, someone once uttered those same words about a 1991 Ford fiesta...

About 2 months of home cooked meals and at least 6-12 home made pies or cobblers.

Other ''activities'' may also be useful to get his mind off it.

That only works if it doesn't have BSM.

That was my thought-- Is there damage to any sensors located in the rear corner?

If BSM is backup sensor monitor, then it’s a $45 option.

I feel the OP's pain. I somehow managed to back into one of the yellow concrete polls and while I didn't have any visible damage, the bumper end is pushed out about an 1 1/2". While I couldn't see any damage underneath, something is bent.

Eventually, I swing by my body shop and get an estimate. It might be that they can straighten out the strut or whatever it bent. They were able to do that with the rear bumper on my 2006 Tundra about ten years ago. Different dumb backing accident.

That's not it. Blind Spot Monitoring sensors are not the parking sensors. They are large and located behind the rear bumper's corner panels. They cannot see through metal, so they require the color matched plastic corners.

I went to Toyota work shop this morning and the blind sensor in the rear bumper's corner panel was damaged...

    Brand new.
Pending any unknown damage under the bumper cap perhaps 3-4 hundred give or take, could be more.
Don't feel bad, my coworker loaned her truck to her ex BF, why she did that no one knows, he backed it into a tree. 5500 worth of damage.

Yes, he knows it now. And I told him I fix it right. So I took it to Toyota work shop...

I smashed my bumper cap and taillight after backing into something as well. I wanted to go cheap as someone scratched my cap on the other side and had good luck with this set from ebay https://www.ebay.com/itm/324836876922 and the sensor had to be replaced as well https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09MS7T5W3?ie=UTF8
Overall paying less than 50 bucks for both caps and the sensor was pretty nice and 100 bucks on the taillight. They're not painted but color matches the bumper and my truck is black but could paint it myself for 60 bucks or so using the paint code to buy a spray can and clearcoat. It's also a truck so can just leave the damage haha
