Does anyone know where I can get a Catalytic Converster Shield or Anti Theft device for a 2001 Toyota Tacoma? They are hitting us hard here in So Cal.

At best you may slow down an amateur or stop one.

The professionals it might add another minute or 2. If you can remove it so can they!!

Really not much you can Do

    Garage or move

I think most of these thieves have been using battery powered sawzalls to cut the pipes and anything else in the way. Based on that I would recommend one of the braided stainless steel cable cages. That sawzall is a terrible tool for cutting steel cable, they are going to need a cable cutter too. Easy to get, but not likely on hand if they set out to steal catalytic converters.

My favorite thought is to install an air ride system in the Tacoma. I would run the front to rear hard air line along the exhaust system, tacked in place on top of the exhaust pipe and catalytic converter "to protect it from road damage." It would work like a giant mouse trap -- go for that piece of cheddar and the pickup springs down on you.

I haven't devoted a lot of time to the single cat covers. The dual cat covers (2001-2004) are available.

That cover will only work on 1996-2000. Won't protect the rear cat on 2001-2004 Tacoma's.
