I still prefer the looks of the 3rd gen, but assuming a good gear box match and reasonable prices by today's standards I'll trade mine in a few years.

I live at elevation and have to pull out onto a busy two lane highway with a steepish grade. Every day doing this I think about how a turbo engine would absolutely smoke my truck doing this pull.

Can you get a 24 with manual quad cab AND long bed?

I believe all the manuals have the 270 hp, even the SR.

The 6MT also gets smart key and clutch start cancel, which is nice to see (for some people, not everyone). I would hope the iMT2 remembers the last state though, I wouldn't want to have to disable it every time.

I have no idea, but my money is on the new 6MT being an RC6xF just like the 2016-2023. Maybe different ratios for the new engine, but wait and see what the technical details are I suppose.

This is exactly what I would prefer as well. Hopefully Toyota makes this an option!

That new TRD Sport manual might be calling my name. I’ll give it a couple years for the kinks to get worked out first, but definitely won’t be able to say no long term. Such a well done truck, Toyota knocked it out of the park with this redesign. Also happy to see you don’t need the hybrid engine to get the fancy cluster.

True, but the smart key equipped trucks are always looking for the key. That's how they unlock when you approach. That's also how they get into your truck, by amplifying the signal from your truck to make them seem close enough. The key fob itself sends a multitude of codes that aren't that easy to use because they change, and are only broadcast when the button is pressed.

Standard key trucks don't look for the key, and thus are much easier to secure. Im honestly not that worried about it cause of where I live but still

Wow enjoy the 3.5.. want to buy mine? I'll take peak torque at 1700 please.

That engineering guy doing the videos said all the MT's will have a larger 9.5" rear diff.

I want a manual TRD off road with 6 foot bed and locking rear differential, decent reverse gearing and a proper truck seat height!! If that happens, then take my money!!!

Ok I will walk back my butt ugly comment from a couple of weeks ago. This is the best video I've seen and actually shows more of what they look like. I'd run the balls out of a silver off road 6MT. Don't care for the passenger side sissy bar, the electric p-brake or the speaker thing in the dash. Hopefully you won't need all 6 gears to get to the top of a hill towing with the 4 banger.

No. Never have been able to. Never will. It's a grand conspiracy from Toyota to not give customers the ultimate Tacoma (DCLB + Manual)

Kinda like no AC Off Road, locking rear differential with a manual for the 3rd gens. That would be the perfect truck if the seat height was better, although getting no sunroof would help an smidge, in that area. Even considered trying to get one from Canada, but seemed cost prohibitive.

I’m still holding out that Canada will get the XtraCab with a manual.

Price doesn't matter if you only drive a manual then that's what you want. I hope they offer manual with any upcoming generations of Tacoma or at least start giving the option to have it ordered that way.
