    Thanks dude!!

Once this one comes in, it might possibly be up for sale haha

I have the smallest Crossfire the original one.

Not enough room for the XR but this one will allow me to do a lot more!

    Ahh no way

We're gonna have to talk later; I keep having beveling issues which is related to torch height.

However I narrowed that issue down a few months ago to a gantry tube that wasn't squared but now it's beveling again :annoyed:

If you got it, you have plenty of people here that'll help you get going especially on the software side (myself included).

I wish I was closer, I'd swap my 4.5 x 4.5 footer for something smaller.

    haha yeah man!

Dang that’s kind of annoying. My OG crossfire has run like an absolute champ for 4 years so I’m really hoping the PRO runs just as smoothly!

I would've and could've gone Pro, but space is a real constraint :bananadead:

I'm betting the problem is Me really, but I do feel there's enough deflection that the torch lends itself to sit "lower" at one end of the table compared to the other. That's where the beveling comes into play and THC isn't helping to alleviate that.

Some good tips in this thread. My pro table has been great. I've had a lot of problems with EMI freezing FireControl, but the table itself is awesome. You won't be disappointed.

Also, there are guys doing extended brackets (file on FireShare) to increase the cut envelope by changing the position of the X-axis gantry if you feel you might need a bit more wouldn't hurt to investigate before you assemble.

Usually space is hard to come by for a lot of us here in SoCal haha.

Sometimes it’s tough to troubleshoot the issue. Is it the slat bed might be off a little bit like one side the slats are sitting funky in their grooves? Maybe the torch cable is getting pulled on ever so slightly when it makes it way to the end of the gantry that’s it’s pulling it sideways a little and causing that beveling? I don’t know haha

Yeah dude I’m super excited! I wanted one back when I saw you get yours lol. I’ve been making do with the size of mine but want to start doing more larger scale projects so time to upgrade!

Thats badass dude thanks for sharing that. Yeah maybe being able to have the most out of the cut envelope will make that difference in certain projects

Welding question: in a dumb mig welder, to turn down the "heat" can I leave the voltage alone and turn down the wire speed? This puddle was created with 24v and the wire feed motor run at 24v. The screw is a lead screw from a vice, something like 1/2 core and maybe 5/8" to the edge of the thread.

Heat normally refers to the actual current.

Granted, wirespeed does play in part with that transfer of current, but if you need to "turn up the heat" you would adjust your voltage up and add a little bit of wirespeed to allow the wire catch up with the added current.

And hey, I take offense to that! I'm a MIG welder myself :luvya:

Turning down the heat in your case would mean turning down the voltage and lowering the speed a little.

How much could I expect the wire speed alone to affect the amperage? Marginal at best or would it allow for a somewhat reasonable weld.

I'm looking for a trail recovery acceptable weld.

Also, that's a shit ton of metal and heat applied to that lead screw.

I'll bet money it'll easily snap here

See it's not that easy to answer because travel speed and technique play a part as well separate from wirespeed.

Honestly, I'd suggest learning how to burn some 7018 rod for a trail recovery versus trying to figure out how to MIG weld something that can fail catastrophically.

Hey guys, looking at picking up my first welder and I'm considering one of the Lincoln 140 series 120V welders. The place I'm currently living at doesn't have any 230V outlets near the garage, so I'm limited to 120V. I mainly plan on welding 3/16" and smaller mild steel. Does anyone have any input on these machines and how well they handle the thicker material they're rated for? It should do 3/16" with MIG and 1/4" with flux core, but I'm a little concerned about running it with the intent of mostly doing 3/16". My understanding is that Lincoln has a bunch of 140 series welders that are all identical, but are branded differently for HD, Lowe's, etc. Is this the case, or are there differences? Because the specs seem to be identical, but the price ranges by as much as $150. Also, how big of a bottle would be reasonable for occasional home use? My big plan for the summer is to try a coastal offroad rear bumper, but aside from that I'd mostly be doing small projects. It looks like when buying the initial bottle, it's worth it to get the biggest one I can store as the prices aren't too different, but I don't want to get a giant bottle if I'm never going to use it up. I'm pretty new to MIG, as I've really only done stick and gas welding before, so any help is much appreciated.
