Has anyone ever seen clear coat fade only on the cab but not the doors or bed panels? I'm trying to figure out why it's happening on my '04 and whether I can prevent it from getting worse.

You can't really tell unless you're up close or if the truck is wet. But it does bug me a bit.

    Thanks.

IIRC white first gens don’t have two stage paint like other 1st gen colors. They have something else where the clear coat is mixed with the paint. That’s why you’ll never see a white one peel clear coat. Instead they’re very vulnerable to chipping off completely, mostly on the bed panels.

But to answer your question more, I’m sure general sunlight exposure has some effect/the elements, more likely I bet your doors and bed panels just aren’t there yet but will be eventually. I have a white one too and I have some fading in various places around the whole truck. I would get it detailed! Would probably fix most of it.

I didn't know that about the white paint - good to know!

I'll get it detailed and will let you know if it helps.

    Thanks!

The great thing about the single stage white paint is that it can be polished to bring back the shine.
