    Just ran a couple metal screws into the back wall an touched them up with paint. The battery is held in place with aluminum L-bracket and a battery tie down secured to the floor and the thick bulkhead like portion of the back wall.

    Searched for a bit but haven't found any answers to this question:

    To avoid buying two new batteries, can I use the original OEM battery (only has 9000mi on it) as my backup in a dual battery set up and then just buy a new Yellowtop D35 for my main battery?

    If you are using a charge controller, it won't matter what you're starting battery is. Voltage and capacity only matter if you are not using a charge controller for your house battery. Also, I would avoid Optima and get a Northstar X2 battery or a Odyssey battery. And keep in minda, the Toyota batteries tend to go bad after 2 years.
