Independent shop in Anchorage

Hi AK folks,

Just drove in to Anchorage from Seattle. I'll be heading up the haul road next week on Tuesday. Can anyone recommend an independent shop that'd be willing to give my truck a once-over before I head out?

Secondary to that, is Kendall Toyota reliable?

You might check with Total Truck and Accessories, i stopped in there other day Jus looking around & walked through shop to go out back. Everything seamed legit. As far as Kendal they did my service other day & so far so good. Did have to book several weeks out. Good luck & im jealous of road trip. Gonna do some this year but not that far North.

So far I've called Youngs, Big O, Sandlake, and the Alignment Center and everyone's booked out at least 2 weeks.

Kendall told me I need about $3k worth of work after their initial inspection (engine oil leak, power steering leak, front ball joint, rear struts) and didn't even look at the trans or diffs. So I'm after a second opinion.

 

For my old truck, I used Master Auto Repair in Wasilla & have hear SoSo things about Jenski's in Palmer. And if U get "board".. King St. Brewery gotta stay hydrated. & Moose Tooth more hydration & pizza.

 

So far Midnight Sun was great and the cheesy breadsticks at Palmer Alehouse were probably worth the drive itself.

 

Ohh I've had them.. Locals in Valley good to. If U make it to Southern end of Alyeska Pipeline.. u'll have 2 hit me up, we have same truck different year. Ha didn't realize till after my first response.

 

Glenallen is as close as I'll get. I've been told I need to stop at Tok Thai.

 

Uugghh, u'll miss one of Pretty places in AK.. & ya the Thai place has been hit or Miss for me. Definitely a lot of State 2 see. I still haven't done all of it, but gonna try'n put a dent in it this Summer. If Summer ever gets here..

 

Part of this trip was helping friends move to Palmer. I'll be back, and heli-skiing in Haines and Valdez are on the bucket list.
