I'm in aviation as well...again, depends on what are you protecting and where and from who ...is it the gate to the ramp?

The old saying "locks are only for honest people" is fundamentally true...but reality is locks strive to be speed bumps. All of them can be compromised somehow, but we use them as deterents really. A determined person can always circumvent security, but are they willing to put in the time/effort when considering risk/reward? Depends what you have and what they want...

But, to answer your question, this is what I would recommend for a padlock

Lulz...it's not an easy one comparedly to lesser masterlocks...it's a 4 pin, but one of the pins is a spiral, or stepped...I cannot remember those specs

I'll try my hand at it now.

I kept feeling pin 3 set, but not sure about pin 4. That one kept throwing me off, not to mention the tension needed for said pins.

All are different, but mine is similar...I set pin 1 first, then apply a bit more tension for pins 2 (ez hit) an pin 3 (I think this is my jizzy pin) then go for pin 4 while just easing off torsion while pivoting the shaft up on pin 1 with a slight twisting clockwise on the pick simultaneously

    YMMV

I cannot get pin 4 to set at all. I wonder if it sits a bit lower and I'm causing pin 3 to overset or something.

Hell, I haven't even looked at the key but I'll get back to it later

    Fuck I got it!

I think I had my tension wrench set wrong since the only thing I did differently was sit the short end in the middle of the keyway.

Added more tension and immediately got pins 1-3 set.

    Master Lock 140 -

You'll notice my careful placement of the tension wrench. Made all the difference, not to mention I used it as a placeholder for my pick as I set each pin.

Hoping my newfound hobby will encourage others to try it out, and learn as I go since I only started just last month.
