Hey man any issues associated with this setup? I'm on stock suspension and thinking about grabbing some 255/85/16s and mounting to some Method 704 wheels (16x8 0mm offset 4.5" backspace). I'm open to a little plastic adjustment but not really looking to trim metal.
    Thanks,

Not the entire thing but I see a lot of people are saying to stick with the stock wheels due to the +25 offset. Wondering what this particular persons experience is.

Im lifted about an inch with the same wheel and tire setup as what your thinking (lift amount doesnt matter anyways) and you definitely need to fold the pinch weld and it may slightly rub the cab mount.

What does slightly rub mean? Like slightly while off-road or just cruising around on the street?
Honestly might just buy the wheels and tires and see how it goes. I’m fine with trimming up a little bit of plastic but not really looking to chop and weld. I think I’ll be ok with a tiny bit of rub while on some serious trails but don’t want it on streets.
Edit: attached is a comparison of wheels. Green is with the 16x8 0mm offset with 255/85/16. The at the top corner of the tire it actually Doesn’t look like that large of a difference but probably in person.

I doubt you’d have a problem on the street. I properly clearanced by removing the front spring and the tire just barely kissed the cab mount while turned on the bump. I do think you will have to fold over the pinch weld, no cutting envolved just folding over a piece of sheet metal.

Following up on my last message. Finally received my Method MR704 16x8 0mm offset with 255/85/16 BFG KM3. Driving on the street no rubbing even when hitting some bigger bumps and entering a steep incline while turning. Will follow up after I take it out rock crawling in VT. Planning on doing a little bit of plastic trimming and some probably heat molding. Hopefully don’t have to chop any metal. So far loving them though.
These KM3s make it finally feel like a truck on the road which is nice. A little bit wavy doing a swerve test but not feeling a lot of power loss/braking loss.

@Tshebell fantastic looking rig with a much more aggressive and capable tire. Thanks for the pics of the side by side tire size comparison many forum members should find the information very helpful.

    Hi all!
For anyone still following thread, or looking into 255/85/16 tires, they will work with 8” wide wheels with 0 offset with BFG KM3 (cannot speak to other tires). I finally hit some trails today and did not experience any rubbing at all. This is while doing some steep crawls and manipulating the wheel from lock to lock with compression. The only thing I did was take 10 mins with a heat gun and wet rag and just molded the front fender liners a tiny bit (see pics).
I aired the BFG KM3s down to about 20 PSI and they performed so well. Very pleased with this setup. Well, figured I’d share. Thanks!

There any difference in size/location between 2nd and 3rd gen cab mounts? Trying to decide if im going the 255 route.

I dont think there is much difference on the cab mount, but the wheel wells are slightly different. I see you have a 2nd gen, I do too. Mine cleared 99% by hammering the pinch weld and trimming plastic. It just barely kissed the cab mount when cycling the suspension. I ended up doing a CMC cause I had a welder, probably not needed though.

    SPC uppers, Wildpeak at 255 80 17, on 17x8.5 0 offset wheels.

I have SPC uppers as well with Elka 2.5 IFP. Running SCS F5 16x8in with 0 offset. Not wanting to do the CMC. Im thinking it will be fine but dont want to rub offroad.

There’s quite a few more options in that size as well for A/T, R/T, and M/T tires. Looking into it myself for a 2nd gen.

I think youll be good if you have a good alignment shop. I had a half assed alignment shop. I really dont think it would have rubbed even offroad, but sense I wasnt paying for it I just did it.

I think I'm going to pull the trigger, and continue to run the Cooper ST Maxx @ 255. Nothing but good things to say about those tires. I talked to Discount Tire and they said they would let me return them if I ran into any issues with fit. If i do, I will go back to the 265/75/16.

Giving a better visual of the clearance on Cab mount of 3rd gen. This is with the wheel as close as I can get it on pavement with a little bit of compression on the shock. This is aired to 34-35 psi. I’d say it is probably 1/4 inch. Looks really close but thankfully not close enough to rub offroad. I have not done any extreme trails though (mostly lighter rock crawling for a couple hours with no sliders or skids) so don’t take my word for there never being a possibility for rubbing.
