The new england winters have done a number on my stock exhaust and this morning it broke apart right in the bend heading to the muffler, no real way to clean it up and get it back together IMO. I'm looking for a wallet friendly $350-600 exhaust system from the donut gasket back. Any recommendations?

Browsing Summit Racing I see lots from MBRP, Gibson, Flowmaster, etc but I am not looking for a loud system, I already dealt with that this morning going down the highway sounding like a Civic on steroids.

asked and answered a thousand time on this site... use the search button ffs

trd pro is what people swear by

mbrp is cheap (and i think they offer quieter mufflers?)

flowmaster, gibson, magnaflow, etc all have multiple product lines.

Honestly it's not too complicated, just pick one that advertises the sound and quality you require. alum vs ss, baffle design, weight, warranty, etc.

Used stock from someone who 'upgraded'

Or price out a muffler shop building you a new system. It might not be as pricey as you think.

While you are under the truck, have you verified the frame is in good order? A rotten exhaust doesn't bode well.

Thanks for the advice, judging by the difference in our join dates :duh:, I can assure you I did search. Instead of bumping an old thread, I made my own. To the top!

OP check out autoparts.toyota.com and play with zip codes and even states, different dealers have different prices, and most are considerably under the MSRP price that pops up initially. This was just a quick search in your neck of the woods. $400.00 is a good deal imo for a TRD exhaust. I think you have an access cab from your avatar pic, so this might be the right part, not sure though, do your own research and make sure the part number matches your year and cab size, access and dcsb have the same part number, dclb gets a different exhaust.
I have the TRD and enjoy it thoroughly, it is subtle but present sounding, while not being overly loud and douche sounding which is what I wanted to stay away from.
Don’t forget to get a new exhaust gasket as well as a new set of spring bolts.

    :ohsnap:

I literally just put the cheapest mbrp aluminum turn-down on last night, and honestly it's not loud at all to me. Yeah it might get a lil louder in the next month, and I didn't take it on the highway yet. I also have a full carpet lined bed+cap... on a double cab, with an empty sub box behind the rear seats (came with the truck, not sure if i wanna use it yet so i left it in). So that all counts as sound deadener, at least a little bit.

And hey, i'm happy to provide input and carry on a discussion. Not trying to be a prick. But if you already searched the other threads then what question do you have thats unanswered? 2nd gen is almost 20 years old now. New threads like this just make it harder to find the other good ones, imo.

inb4 another "what is the best oil" thread appears
