Hey everyone. Just had a flush done at a dealer. I know I shouldnt have waited 200k but anyway. Even though I've changed oil 10x, in a hurry last night night with headlamp accidently drained about 1qt out of the trans before i realized, the day after a flush! Kicking myself. sounds like I'm not alone

If that image shows up, does that look like a flush could have been done? Drove about 1hr since flush. Left is out of the overflow plug, right is brand new atf4.

couple questions, what fluid would dealer have used? I assume it should all be bright red, to me, it doesn't look like a damn thing was done.

Can I top off with atf4 or should I get some toyota atf from dealer? Is atf4 best to use?

I really don't think I drained any more than 1 qt, danger to drive on? Was planning on just adding 1 qt and doing the diy temp check protocol.

Any help appreciated, need truck badly this weekend for a side job

URL doesn't work, says bad gateway.

2nd gen V6 uses Toyota WS. Mixing with ATF Type IV would probably cause issues long term. It's doable as a temporary measure, but then you'd need to flush the system again at an expense. If it's your only vehicle, I'd suggest getting a ride to the dealer to pick up WS fluid.

Why in the hell do you have 5 billion blank lines in your first post????

Use Toyota WS or Valvoline MaxLife ATF. Fill from the side fill port, check level via the proper temp check procedure & the Check port on the pan. Lastly color is not a good indicator of ATF life

    Yeah.
Looks like they likely just did a pan drain and fill, should be a lot lighter if a full flush was done. Top it off with Toyota WS or anything that says it meets Toyota WS specs. Many people use the Valvoline previously mentioned, or I have used Castrol Transmax Full Synthetic Multi-Vehicle ATF.

I agree with tenbeers, looks like they only did a drain and fill. Check your paper work, how many litres of oil did they charge you for? If they only did a drain and fill ,learn to do it yourself and do a few more over the course of a week or two. Each time you do note the colour of the fluid coming out might be a good indicator of fluid quality. Good luck

You have no way to know.
Fresh fluid has cleaning detergent and will quickly discolor put into the trans.

the fluid in the picture does look replaced.

working as a mechanic we did not have a flush machine for trans. It was drain and fill. Which is still good.
The idea is that flushing means kicking up any harmful wear debris that has settled, making it circulate in the trans.

there is rarely a reason to not do this yourself. Or get to know a trustworthy person to do it.
Exceptions I can think of are welding. Most people don’t know how to weld.
