I'm curious what they did to improve frame corrosion resistance. Do we have any specifics on that? The implementation of their Dejima technology means that the frame is going to be of relatively light gauge, so resistance to oxidation will be more critical than ever before.

Dejima tech is a "10-axis" laser welding setup that allows robotic welds along complex curved surfaces. This allows Toyota to vary the material thickness with more granularity to shave weight. I'd be more concerned about the orders of magnitude more welds on the frame, than the thin gauge areas  You can see on your truck the welds are the first to rust on the frame, control arms and axle, some after just one winter.

Got it. Thanks for the info.

So I wonder how they (hopefully) addressed corrosion...

^The cavity wax introduced in Tacomas in 2018 helps a lot. Aside from that, don't expect much. If anything the coatings may be more compromised now due to the use of more RoHS and REACH-compliant chemicals.

All trucks will leave the factory with Tru Coat applied. You are getting it even if you don't want it. The best your dealer will be able to do is knock off $100 from the price of it.
