It could have slipped my mind..this year has been rough

 

Big middle finger to Doylestown Township for suddenly deciding that an "assembly permit" is required to have a cars and coffee and sending the police to shut it down. These people have been holding these for over a decade and probably 2-3 years at this shopping center...

 

I heard two different stories, that they need permission from the shopping center owner and that a permit is required for gatherings over 250 people; I have no idea which is the true story, but what it all boils down to in my opinion is that government bureaucrats want their money in exchange for the citizens having fun.

 

That's lame.

Private property and what looks like a group of attendees that wouldn't cause mayhem. People don't usually show up in sports cars from the 60s, do donuts across the parking lot and attract the kind of crowds who might create a flash mob. They should be thank full that people come out and respect the community while doing so. They do have some nice Tahoes, couldn't help but notice those.

I am not versed in the language of the law. But there is a section pertaining to permits for “Public Events and Gatherings”.

One bad apple can ruin it for all. What's happening there could be a direct result from other people's actions elsewhere. Stopping those activities before they happen there.

 

The Tahoes were probably paid for with revenue from the BS assembly permits they're suddenly forcing people to get...

 

Yeah it kind of sends the wrong message in this case. I know it's just a PD vehicle and 1st responders should have decent equipment to perform their job.

These look like a group of law abiding citizen. Not a group of rioters which some car events turn into where the police impound modified vehicles because of the riot like atmosphere.

 

In defense of the town, those events can get rowdy.

Not saying it’s right, but there are two sides to every story.

 

I've been going to this cars and coffee for years and I've NEVER seen anybody get rowdy.

They “can” become a problem.
I’m pretty fortunate, my town doesn’t mind public gatherings, such as car shows, until there is a problem. When I was in High school and my early 20’s. A group of us would regularly get together at a local car wash. We had our share of police interactions, and all were positive. We were reminded regularly by the local police that, “As long as there weren’t any problems. We were fine to hang out there”.
They did also talk to the owner of the car wash. He was 100% fine with it. It actually helped his business.
