Because of Military deployment and family issues my 2006 Taco has been sitting in my driveway for about 10 months without being driven or start at all.

After a quick visual inspection, all looks good, hoses look good, AGM battery was checked and properly topped off, Goodyear Duratracs look good, pressure is fine.

Only thing I saw right off the bat is the front disc breakers are all rusted(surface?).

Any advice on what should I do, if anything, before cranking her up and taking her for a spin?

    Thanks!

    Rick

Crank it up. All accessories OFF. A/C off too. Let it idle until warm. Then turn the A/C on. Get out and check for leaks. As for the rotors, you can pull them clean them/ replace them. If you do all that might as well change the pads. I’m lazy, I’d drive “slow” and let the pads clean the rotors. If it works, great. If not, you didn’t loose anything.

Here in Pa the climate is so damp my truck sits for a few days the rotors have a coating of rust.

As much fresh gas as possible .

Do I have to empty the “old” stale gas and fill up with fresh gas?

Pretty new pads and rotors, so I think I’ll follow the advice of driving slow and let the pads clean the rotors:thumbsup:

Depends just how full the tank is .

If your tank is full it might run rather poor till you can get fresh gas in.

With so many different blends of gas ( additives ) in different parts of the country i can only go by what I experience local.

with the cost per gallon I sure would not drain it.
