Stock as can be. 2nd owner, mild rust from Illinois owner. Frame is solid and plan on just getting a toolbox for the bed, black steel wheels and some 31x10.5R15
Mainly on the driver side from what I can hear inside the cab. I just got this thing and went over it with a fine-tooth-comb already for 2 nights in a row. There is 0 play in any of the steering components, suspension components, any sort of loose heat Shields, or anything else of that matter. Even the Carrier bearing looks fresh and new. I am leaning towards the CV axle dust shield on the differential side. The the CV axle boots are cleaner and not worn looking. They felt stiff, with a tiny but of play as CV shafts should. The noise I'm hearing sounds just like a piece of very thin gauge metal, or bailing wire even, just jingling against another piece of metal. The other day however I hit a bump and the noise stayed consistent with my speed and tire rotation. I hit another bump about 30 seconds later and it stopped. Some nice fellow on the Facebook 1st generation Tacoma page, suggested that it may be the CV axle dust shield between the axle and the diff. Is there a way ti stabilize that smaller gauge metal dust shield? Or am I looking at removing the CV and throwing a new one in there? I read some people experienced them being bent. Causing the slight rattle noise?

Hope to get some advice and thanks for the warm welcomes.

Are your corner marker lights nice a tight? One of mine is an Amazon special and doesn't lock in tight and sounds like a "tinny" rattle on bumpy roads.
