Just picked this one up!

 

Finally found the perfect weekend to install my RCI sliders. Read up a bunch and watched all the videos I could find and the install went smooth.

 

Went for a drive in the clouds on Blue Ridge Parkway to my local ski resort which is just off it. Somehow in June its 53 degrees and not the warmest. The OEM Toyo A31s will be coming off asap, to be replaced by what has not yet been determined

 

I have been getting likes in the yard.. Soo I better throw one out there with "scenic" back drop. This was lil bit ago.

 

that's the exact cap I want only problem is the $3900 price.

 

Yep, the shells are annoyingly pricey and not made all that well. I'm still kinda considering a super pacific for camping ease but those are even more expensive and still have to deal with the potential of water leaks.

 

Found a killer deal on a shell with only a few minor flaws. Gotta decide if I’m painting it body color or matte black now…

 

It's fairly normal for all years. It's just how the metallic laid down in the paint. If you look close at almost dark grey metallic paint on cars or trucks, any make, it's the same. I never noticed until I got my MGM truck.

 

Who did you go through for the paint? Does it match perfectly?

 

Nice truck...but lets talk about that mustang, Is that a 65? I've never seen one with the bumper painted before, the black and white looks great!

 

Yeah most manufacturers are barely putting two coats over the e-coat (primer). They almost never actually achieve full coverage, which makes for very blotchy paint since you’re seeing the primer underneath. It’s just a lot more noticeable in some colors, mainly high metallic silvers and greys.

 

Thanks man, its a 68 coupe that I completely rebuilt. I had the bumpers power coated black.

 

Same over here and have seen it on many other MGM's on the road. Sort of looks like blotchiness, however, the technical term in mottling.

What was the cost to paint it?

 

About 4 hours of my time. I paint cars for a living haha.

But you’re probably looking at around 1k depending on your areas labor rates and what they want to charge labor hour wise.
